  • Very pleased that our patent application was judged as unique and novel and has now successfully moved forward to the next stage in getting approved for all ASEAN countries. Vulcan has been working over the last 4 years developing and refining a novel AI approach for FFB quality analysis that has been tested in various conditions and has now successfully been running for more than a year at multiple mills and plantations, and is now commercially available for Oil Palm companies.     While a lot of R&D has been done in Vision AI based fruit grading, it has been difficult to operationalize solutions without access to internet or big computing resources.    Very excited to share that our patented MillGrader AI system has achieved more than 95% accuracy for FFB grading in an operational setting. Our BIG cloud inference model was successfully optimized for the off-line environment, and now runs at the mill without needing any connectivity, which is often a constraint in remote areas where mills are located.   We had been selected by PT. Astra Agro Lestari, Tbk to implement the solution at one of their Oil Palm Mills in Indonesia. Over the last 3 months the Vulcan AI and Astra team have worked hand in hand to operationalize AI into the day-to-day mill process. It was a pleasure working with the Astra team on this project and we look forward to the positive impact this project will have on their operations, and eventually on the oil palm sector.    With this system now PT. Astra Agro Lestari, Tbk can get a more accurate view of the quality of the fruits being purchased from 3rd party suppliers and manage payments accordingly.     Very excited to share that our AI-based fruit counting and grading system has been selected by Olam Palm & Rubber Gabon to improve fruit quality assessment in their plantations in Gabon, Africa. This joint project aims to achieve better consistency and accuracy in the assessment of fruit quality.   • 🚀 Empowering Vision AI with Generative AI: Quantum Leap in Precision 🚀 At Vulcan AI, accuracy is not just a measure; it's our signature. Elevating accuracy from 90 % to over 95% isn't merely an improvement; it can have revolutionary impact to our clients. Challenge: Achieving high accuracy is typically a function of comprehensive training data, particularly for rare classes, which poses a daunting challenge. Traditional methods demand extensive manual effort, as annotators sift through thousands of images, a process fraught with potential for human error. Our goal was to build an AI-driven approach that leverages a handful of known cases to generate thousands of high-fidelity training samples, thus enhancing model accuracy without compromise. ✨ Solution: We developed a contrastive GAN model that begins with approximately 50 samples of dirty fruit bunches. This model learns to transform images of normal fruit bunches into representations of dirty ones. Through meticulous fine-tuning of the dataset, hyper-parameters, and architectural experiments, we succeeded in generating high-quality, AI-produced samples. This approach not only preserved the intricate details of the fruit but also significantly enhanced the AI based detection of the dirty fruit category with unmatched fidelity. 📈 Outcome: We were able to get our model's precision to over 95% in identifying these challenging categories. While our final model relies on conventional CNN-based classification that runs on the edge, the incorporation of GANs has significantly accelerated our path to higher accuracy. 🌟 Insight: Strategic application of Generative AI can dramatically expedite the modeling process, achieving unparalleled precision and efficiency!
