Presenting the 'School Without Walls' at SCUP yesterday was a celebration of The University of Virginia's School of Data Science. As the first school of its kind in the nation, it is guided by common goals: to further discover, share knowledge, and make a positive impact on society through collaborative, open responsible data science research and education. At the forefront of the transdisciplinary field of data science, this first academic installment on the Emmet-Ivy Corridor, the groundbreaking center is set to help define the future of the University’s development.

Always an exciting day on site with our Truesdell Elementary School Team!

As we strive for sustainable and innovative solutions, the Truesdell EC modernization project integrates Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels for roof construction. Mass timber reduces the carbon footprint and offers durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal, reflecting our commitment to creating sustainable, innovative spaces. Thank you to our Capital Construction Services School Project Team, Design-Build team, Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC), Blue Skye Construction, and VMDO Architects for showcasing yesterday's progress. Together, we are building a better DC and can't wait to deliver this school asset during the Summer of 2025! Check out some of our favorite photos from this installation! Stay tuned, DC! #DGSBuilds #Sustainability #Innovation #NetZero #MassTimber

Michelle Amt is Elevated to the AIA’s College of Fellows! The AIA College of Fellows Investiture Ceremony took place last Wednesday to congratulate the 2024 class of AIA Fellows. Michelle was joined by her peers as they were celebrated for their achievements and contributions to the profession of architecture. To become an AIA Fellow, one must be elected through a rigorous process and then selected by a jury of their peers. Becoming an AIA Fellow is the highest membership honor one can achieve and only 3% of AIA members have this distinction. Be sure to click the link below to learn more about Michelle Amt and her contributions. https://lnkd.in/ehdWJSYQ

We had a wonderful time sponsoring the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) micro-regional tour of University of Virginia's Edgar Shannon Library Renewal and the New Contemplative Science Center. This event took participants on an afternoon tour of two course-altering building projects that have exemplified how UVA plans, designs and delivers educational spaces to support a diverse range of evolving student and faculty needs. Thank you to all of those who were able to participate!
