Some examples include our Freestanding Emergency Center and Medical Office Building on our Lindenhurst campus, while at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan we’ve opened our completely renovated 2W Patient Care Unit. Plus, we continue to add the latest in leading-edge technology, such as the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System for robotic-assisted surgery. As we enter 2024, Vista Health System is happy to formally introduce our new Chief Medical Officer: Dr. Mary Maish. Dr. Maish comes to us from Northwestern’s Lake Forest Hospital after establishing and directing the Thoracic and Foregut Surgical program. Dr. Maish has developed and directed clinical and academic programs at multiple levels, including fellowships, residency, medical school and faculty-wide initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Maish holds a Master's in Public Health from Harvard University and has trained at well-known institutions around the country, including; Northwestern, Rush, University of Pennsylvania, MD Anderson, University of Southern California and has held faculty positions at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Maish’s diverse background in clinical medicine and accomplishments in academic, private practice and corporate medical systems will surely be an asset to Vista and the community we serve. Vista recently hosted a teddy bear clinic at the Zion Fire Department's Open House event with the goal of helping kids feel more comfortable with going to the doctor or hospital for a check-up when they're sick or injured. Seeing all the small smiling faces as they fixed their bears up was such a treat!

Vista Health System is now part of American Healthcare Systems (AHS)! Today, a ribbon cutting was held at Vista Medical Center East to commemorate the occasion. AHS Chairman and CEO, Michael Sarian, along with members of the AHS team joined Vista employees and medical staff, Vista Board of Trustees Chair, Eleanor Murkey, Waukegan Mayor, Ann B. Taylor, and other local elected officials for the celebration. AHS is a nationwide healthcare system based in Los Angeles, California with a mission to transform hospitals by emphasizing quality, accessible and compassionate care for patients and community members. AHS looks to improve each community it participates in by introducing new technologies, specialties and care specific to the needs of that community.
