We're a winner! A 2024 Skift Idea Awards winner! Visit Philadelphia won in the CREATIVE THINKERS Category: Marketing for our “In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union” campaign. The SKIFT Idea Awards are the travel industry’s most coveted prize, recognizing excellence in design, creativity and innovation. Our entry was among a select group of 23 projects hand-picked from a list of nearly 350 submissions from around the world. Fellow Idea Award winners this year include global brands like Southwest Airlines, Radisson Hotel Group and Sandals Resorts International. Our winning campaign showcases Philadelphia as the premier welcoming and inclusive destination in the U.S. in a way that only the birthplace of the nation can. The campaign was designed to offer a fresh take on Philadelphia’s commemoration of history and heritage months, including Black History Month, Asian American Heritage Month, Pride, Hispanic Heritage Month and more. This award wouldn't be possible without the tireless efforts of the entire integrated marketing team. Cheers to each member of the Visit Philly staff and our external partners who helped bring this initiative to life. #visitphilly #skiftideaawards #travel

About us
Mission: VISIT PHILADELPHIA® is our name and our mission. As the region’s official tourism marketing agency, we build Greater Philadelphia’s image, drive visitation and boost the economy. Who We Are: Recognizing that leisure tourism could be an important industry for the city and region, the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and The Pew Charitable Trusts founded VISIT PHILADELPHIA as the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation in 1996. The next year, we launched the first consumer campaign inviting people to visit the five-county region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties). Today, Greater Philadelphia welcomes 13.4 million more leisure travelers annually than it did in 1997. Successful campaigns include the current Come for Philadelphia. Stay for Philly; With Love, Philadelphia XOXO®; Philly’s More Fun When You Sleep Over®, the most successful post-9/11 hospitality recovery campaign in the U.S.; the groundbreaking Philadelphia – Get Your History Straight And Your Nightlife Gay®; and With Art Philadelphia®, the city’s first-ever coordinated and sustained visual arts marketing effort. Funding: A 501(c)3, VISIT PHILADELPHIA funding sources include Philadelphia County hotel tax, foundation grants, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania grants, partnerships and sponsorships. Blue Shield and the Philadelphia Funder Collaborative; and our audio-visual sponsor Advanced Staging. Also, many thanks to Committee of Seventy for its presence at the event, and our partners who hosted community watch parties of the live-streamed event: Tierra Colombiana restaurant; TedX partner University of North Florida; and Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC), who hosted at the Crane Community Center. This event wouldn’t be possible without all of these incredible partners helping make it happen. #visitphilly #democracy #teddemocracy

Today marks another big milestone for Visit Philadelphia. After more than 20 years of visionary guidance, Manuel N. Stamatakis will step down as Chairman of the Board of Visit Philadelphia and transition to the role of Chair Emeritus, effective January 2025. Anthony J. "Tony" Conti, a nine-year member of the Board of Directors and the current Finance Chair, will succeed him as Chairman at that time. Manny’s dedication has been instrumental in maintaining Philadelphia’s prominence in the tourism and hospitality industry over the last two decades, significantly benefiting the Greater Philadelphia economy. For an inside look at this transition, check out our latest video where Manny and Tony discuss what this means for Visit Philadelphia. The Visit Philadelphia team recently hosted a one-night-only, four-course dinner at the renowned James Beard House, transporting journalists, content creators and key stakeholders to the heart of South Philadelphia's exciting culinary scene with a curated meal highlighting the immigrant communities that have made the South 9th Street Italian Market one of the country's most iconic food destinations. The culinary journey featured some of South Philadelphia's finest tastemakers, including Chef Jennifer Zavala from Juana Tamale, known for her innovative takes on Mexican cuisine; Chef Phila Lorn from Mawn, featured in The New York Times' "25 Best Restaurants in Philadelphia Right Now"; Chef AJ Sarno from Isgro Pastries, 2024 James Beard Foundation Award nominee for Outstanding Bakery; and Damian Langarica, head mixologist at Irwin’s. Special guests Christina D'Esposito, senior director of sponsorship at the James Beard Foundation; Emilio Mignucci, owner of Di Bruno Bros.; and Michelle Angela Ortiz, artist and founder of Our Market Project also joined. The evening was full of excitement and delicious bites. We look forward to continuing to connect with reporters and content creators so they can experience first-hand Philadelphia's diverse neighborhoods and culinary scene. #visitphilly #beardfoundation #culinary 📸: Clay Williams

Visit Philadelphia took to Los Angeles earlier this month to host a media dinner in West Hollywood during the 2024 National Convention for NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. This event provided our team with an engaging way to connect with LGBTQ reporters from across the nation, fostering meaningful relationships and sharing more about Philadelphia’s dynamic tourism and hospitality offerings. Our conversation also showcased Visit Philadelphia’s In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union series, as well as Philadelphia’s extensive LGBTQ history. Thank you to all of the reporters who joined us and helped make the evening a success through a memorable exchange of ideas! We’re excited to keep in touch. #NLGJA24 #visitphilly #LGBTQPhilly

We take pride in being a workplace where our team members want to come back to! Please join us in welcoming back Daniel A. Davis. Some of you may recognize Daniel from his last stint at Visit Philadelphia, when he served on our Communications team from 2018 to 2020. Now, he’s landed in our Marketing department, and is responsible for developing marketing strategies and programs to connect with diverse travelers, including those identifying as Black; Hispanic and Latino; Asian American Pacific Islander; and LGBTQ . And don't "@" him, but his go-to cheesesteak place is Larry's Steaks in West Philly. #visitphilly #boomerangemployee #employeespotlight

At Visit Philadelphia, we strive to be our team's home away from home. That's why we recently hosted two great opportunities for staff (and their families) to connect, unwind and enjoy themselves. First up: a game of quizzo hosted by Lunch Money Quizzo, the 2023 winner of Best Quizzo Night in Philadelphia by PhillyHappening. Teams were put to the ultimate test on — drumroll please — their Philly knowledge. Later on, we hosted a Visit Philly Picnic for friends and family at historic Franklin Square, where we enjoyed mini golf; carousel rides; and delicious food by Brûlée Catering . We're already looking forward to our next staff outings! #teambuilding #visitphilly
