The 2023-24 school year in #Connecticut was an eventful one! We've provided over 5,000 vision screenings, 1,800 eye exams, and 1,600 glasses to children across the state all at no cost to the child or their family. One of the students who received glasses was Levi, a 2nd grader from Center Road School. Here's what his mother had to say about getting glasses from Vision To Learn: "Vision To Learn has provided my son, Levi, with an amazing opportunity to receive necessary vision care. Even though we attended all pediatric appointments, no concerns with Levi's vision were ever brought to my attention. In second grade he began to struggle with reading and was performing significantly below grade level. Thank goodness Vision To Learn came to Levi's school and completed a screening and eye exam! Since receiving his glasses his academics have greatly improved, and he has moved up six reading levels! We will forever be grateful to Vision To Learn for an incredibly easy and accessible experience!" #nonprofit #childrensvision #visiontolearn #helpingothers #mobilehealth #mobileeyecare #vernonct

Vision To Learn provides free eye exams and glasses to children in underserved communities throughout the United States.
About us
Vision To Learn is the largest school-based vision care nonprofit in the country. VTL exists to address one basic premise – if you can’t see, you can’t learn. Vision To Learn provides eye exams and glasses to students in underserved communities to help them succeed in school and in life at no cost to the child or their family. See visiontolearn.org for current opportunities to make a difference in your community. Vision To Learn solves a problem affecting as many as 1.5 million children nationwide who lack the glasses they need to see the board, read a book, study math or participate in class. Kids in low-income communities and minorities are disproportionately affected. The problem is one of access as most of the kids, for a host of reasons, do not get to a doctor. Vision To Learn solves the problem by bringing the clinic to the kids at schools and community organizations and providing eye exams and glasses free of charge. Vision To Learn has accomplished a great deal since it was started in 2012 in Los Angeles and plans to use that experience to serve as a model for the rest of the nation.

Our first year in #Oregon has been an eventful one! We've provided nearly 5,000 vision screenings, over 1,800 eye exams, and more than 1,400 glasses to children across the state all at no cost to the child or their family. Here's what students from a 3rd grade class in #portland had to say about receiving a brand-new pair of glasses: Ally's Letter: Thank you for getting me glasses for reading. It was very nice of you guys to do that and not have us pay for it. The glasses are working very well for me. I heard it's working good for others too. These glasses are very helpful and pretty. I like to wear cute outfits with them a lot. So thank you very much for the glasses. Leo's Letter: Thank you for the glasses they are really helping me see better for reading and seeing far distances. They're very cool! I like the frames. I was happy to wear them because I see better. Elizabeth's Letter: Dear Vision To Learn, thank you for checking if my eyes need glasses. It was fun when I got to see all of Rhode Island on the TV. It was fun when I got to choose my own color of glasses for me. And when I got to try them on and when I got to play with the toy that you guys had. Thank you so much and know I could see better. Thank you again. A big thank you to Jim & Sue Kelly, Nick Kristof, Kristof Impact Initiative, Tim & Mary Boyle, The Oregon Community Foundation, Spirit Mountain Community Fund, Pacific Power Foundation, Oregon Strong, Senator Jeff Merkley, Senator Ron Wyden, Rep. Ben Bowman (D-Tigard), OHSU Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation, Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, David Douglas School District, Gladstone School District 115, Portland Public Schools, Stand for Children - Oregon, and The Samuel S. Johnson Foundation. We look forward to continuing to work with you to build off this year's success and help thousands more children across Oregon get the glasses they need to see clearly in school and in life! #visiontolearn #visionscreenings #eyecare #eyecareprofessionals #childrensvision #mobilehealth
