District 18, Norton P&P, is taking action for its community and even surrounding states. After District Mental Health Clinician Joni Coleman suggested finding ways to help those affected by Helene, the staff decided to host a supply drive. District 18 offered to collect donations from other Districts across the Commonwealth, along with friends, resource agencies, businesses, and family in the community and ensure donations are delivered to devastated areas. After the first day of the drive, D18 was able to send $732 worth of supplies to District 17, Abingdon, to add to their donations and they distributed supplies in their community, ensuring that people who could not get to help centers were able to receive help. On day two, D18 acquired an estimated $22,572 worth of cash and supply donations. They readied a van load of supplies and cash that Senior Probation Officer Greg “Chico” Adams will take to Tennessee and North Carolina as part of a volunteer team to help in the following days. D18 also sent more supplies to District 17. District 18 is still accepting donations and will continue to help folks as much as possible in the coming weeks of clean up and restoration. Thank you to the many staff members, friends, local agencies, Districts and especially to the staff at District 18 for donating, carrying things to and from, shopping for, loading the vans and delivering items non-stop while also doing performing their assigned duties to ensure long-term public safety. Your donations, selfless service, and tireless actions are so appreciated!
