The Village Board recognized the work of 102-year-old resident Marjorie Sullivan Lee at its meeting this past Monday night. Lee and her late husband had a son, Kevin, who was the first person with Down syndrome to graduate from Glendbard East High School. Lee is a pioneering disability advocate and activist who fought for the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Lee is also a founder of the National Association for Down Syndrome and Parents Alliance Employment Project, and has published the book about her son and his experience, titled, "Bloom Where You Are Planted." The entire Glen Ellyn community is grateful for Ms. Lee's work, and appreciates her tireless services and contributions.
