Vibrant Pittsburgh is Happy to Highlight ReelAbilities and their annual event, Film Pittsburgh, which strengthens their commitment to hosting cultural event in the region that highlights the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people living with disabilities. Film Pittsburgh's 12th annual ReelAbilities Pittsburgh festival will run September 5-11, 2024 at The Rangos Giant Cinema at the Carnegie Science Center and Pittsburgh Playhouse Highmark Theatre (in-person September 5-7/virtually September 5-11). On September 5, the 12th annual ReelAbilities Pittsburgh film festival kicks off at the Carnegie Science Center with the Pittsburgh premiere of Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh's own superman, will be introducing the film. After the screening, join us for an After-Party in the cinema lobby! Tickets for ReelAbilities go on sale Thursday, August 15 at This year, we’re screening five feature films and two blocks of short films about people with many different types of disabilities. Vibrant Pittsburgh is happy to highlight our member, UPMC , for their commitment to education and career readiness for our students in the Pittsburgh region! Each year UPMC hosts the Pittsburgh Promise Executive Scholars. This program assists the Scholars’ transition from not only high school to college but from college to a career. On July 11, 2024 these scholars learned about the various careers from UPMC professionals. They talked about their roles, the importance of their work and the career paths that one can pursue. Join Mattress Factory for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the Greer Lankton Archive with Senior Archivist Sarah Hallett and guest speaker S. Brook Corfman, an acclaimed poet and researcher whose current research explores the relationship between gender transition and artmaking practices. Hallett and Corfman will provide insights into Lankton's installation at the Mattress Factory, her creative practice, and her life as an artist. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to view a selection of dolls, drawings, photographs, and letters from the Archive.
