The Virginia Health Care Association and the Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VHCA-VCAL) is a member-driven organization dedicated to advocating for and representing the interests of over 345 Virginia nursing and assisted living facilities, the over 90,000 residents and patients they serve annually through the selfless efforts of nearly 50,000 dedicated caregiving staff. We’re proud of our role as the Commonwealth’s largest association representing long-term care. VHCA-VCAL’s strength, effectiveness, and integrity are significantly enhanced by the diversity of its membership which includes proprietary, non-profit, and government-operated facilities dedicated to providing the highest quality of care. VHCA-VCAL conducts legislative and regulatory advocacy on behalf of its members on reimbursement and compliance issues and provides accredited continuing education for long-term care administrators.

On Tuesday, over 30 members of The Virginia Health Care Association-Virginia Center for Assisted Living spent the day in Washington, DC. Virginia providers were the largest group of any state at the AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing! Virginia providers discussed the staffing crisis in nursing centers that has been decades in the making. The federal administration’s one size fits all approach will do more harm than good. VHCA-VCAL is grateful to members of Virginia’s Congressional delegation for hearing our concerns. Virginia’s state government is addressing these critical issues with thoughtful public policy that supports our providers as they work to train, hire and retain staff. This approach will benefit the residents and patients they serve now and into the future. Thank you to the Virginia General Assembly for their unwavering support! We cannot let the federal mandate undue the progress our providers have worked so hard to make.
