  • We recently asked Dr. Rudd, owner of Annapolis Cat Hospital and Bay Ridge Animal Hospital, "What motivated you to pursue practice ownership & how did Veterinary Practice Partners help?" She responded, "One of the hardest things about obtaining practice ownership is the financial aspect. Veterinary Practice Partners helped connect me with the bank that provided me the loan needed to partner. Everyone I worked with was so helpful and made the whole process very easy. VPP truly cares about the people they employ. They want to help veterinarians like me create a practice where our staff can be valued and our patients can be provided with the best care possible." • This month’s “Vet Voices” spotlight features a Q&A session with Dr. Robin Simpkins, co-owner of Cherokee Hospital For Animals and a proud member of VPP’s Medical Advisory Board. Having joined VPP in 2018, Dr. Simpkins and her team have been gaining valuable insights and implementing best practices in their day-to-day work thanks to VPP's peer group meetings for medical directors and practice managers. “One of the most influential programs I have participated in has been VPP’s peer group meetings,” said Dr. Simpkins. “The peer groups allow medical directors and doctor partners within the VPP network to meet, develop relationships with their peers and discuss both the medical and management issues that they are facing. This program has been so valuable to our practice, and to me personally. VPP now has similar meetings for the network’s practice managers, and I have seen excellent growth and increased knowledge from our practice manager as a direct result of the leadership training that she has received in these meetings. • Hello Veterinary Practice Partners Community, Please give Dr. Alexandra Hafey a warm welcome by saying hi! Dr. Alexandra Hafey, our newest Associate Veterinarian, has always wanted to be a DVM. She grew up in Colorado, attended UW-Madison on an athletic scholarship for swimming and diving, and earned a degree in Animal Sciences while developing a love for Wisconsin's culture and values. After graduating, she worked at a big cat sanctuary in Texas while applying to vet school. Dr. Hafey then worked as a veterinary assistant for Truesdell before starting vet school at Colorado State University. During vet school, Dr. Hafey was interested in small animal and livestock medicine and worked on a team researching canine reproduction. Her professional interests are feline medicine and senior/end-of-life care. Dr. Hafey lives with her boyfriend Tyler, her college swimming and diving teammate, and a one-year-old tuxedo cat named Badger. She loves exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching movies, cross-stitching, and cooking. She is happy to begin her career as a veterinarian at the hospital where she worked before attending vet school. "I am excited to be surrounded by individuals who practice such a high quality of medicine and are so encouraging and supportive," says Dr. Hafey.
