At Veloxity Labs, we're passionate about fostering the growth of future scientists by maintaining close connections with local schools and universities. On July 15th, we had the pleasure of hosting summer research students and professors from Monmouth College. Mitch Johnson, Co-Founder, Laboratory Director, provided an overview of Veloxity Labs, followed by a tour of our facility and labs. Our employees engaged in a 1.5-hour open discussion over lunch with the students, covering their current research projects, career aspirations and life after graduation. It was truly an enriching experience for everyone involved. These students are part of the Doc Kieft Summer Research Program, a legacy of the late chemistry professor Richard “Doc” Kieft, whose generous estate supports this initiative. The program funds students for eight weeks of paid research under the guidance of their professors. A big thank you to Dr. Michael Prinsell, Dr. Laura Moore, Dr. Audra Goach, and lab manager Steve Distin for accompanying the students. Special shoutout to our employees and Monmouth College alumni: Mitch Johnson (2012), Britta Johnson (2011), Hannah Hofmann (2021), and Arika D. (2022), who shared their unique journeys and insights. Mitch, Hannah and Arika all conducted research under Dr. Audra Goach at Monmouth College working with the Langmuir Blodgett Trough. It’s incredible to see how their paths have evolved.
