📢 The future of energy efficiency lies in retrofitting our homes! 🏠 To meet climate goals by 2050, we need to retrofit roughly 90% of existing housing. This massive task brings a significant opportunity for advanced building construction techniques, making homes cleaner and construction methods more efficient. Our new report, funded by the DOE's Advanced Building Construction Collaborative, provides a detailed state-by-state analysis and pathways to reduce pollution from US homes by 2050. We found that out of 125 million US homes: 🔹 60% need energy retrofits with envelope improvements equipment upgrades. 🔹 32% require only high-efficiency, all-electric equipment replacements and minor updates. 🔹 8% are already aligned with climate goals. 🔹 10 million new homes expected by 2023 can benefit from industrialized construction for cost-effective, climate-aligned builds. ⬇ Download the report: https://bit.ly/3RTeYaY Thank you to our partners U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, ADL Ventures, VEIC, AEA, Phius, and key authors from PNNL, LBNL, and National Renewable Energy Laboratory. #ClimateAction #SustainableLiving #Retrofitting #EnergyEfficiency

Congratulations to Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and all other awardees on this accomplishment! VEIC is proud to support MassCEC in this award-winning work.

The Clean Energy States Alliance is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 State Leadership in Clean Energy Awards: California Energy Commission (CEC) for its Flexible Demand Appliance Standards for Pool Controls program; Connecticut Green Bank for its Green Liberty Notes Program; Maryland Energy Administration for its Community Solar Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Grant Program; and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center for its Accelerating Clean Transportation (ACT) School Bus Program. “The Clean Energy States Alliance was founded on the principle that states are the driving force behind this country’s clean energy transformation,” said CESA Executive Director Warren Leon. “CESA’s State Leadership in Clean Energy Awards recognize state innovation and accomplishments and share best practices so that creative programs in one state can spread to others.” Read more about the 2024 award winning programs here: https://lnkd.in/gr56DUfd

Here at Efficiency Vermont, we are committed to helping business achieve their energy-saving goals. One of our trailblazing partners is Lawson's Finest Liquids. Lawson’s commitment to cutting greenhouse gas emissions from Vermont’s renowned brewing industry is evident in their continuous upgrades to their facility and brewing process. Recently, Lawson’s installed a 3,500 square foot cooler that uses carbon dioxide, a natural refrigerant, to keep their beer cool rather than synthetic refrigerants which are harmful to the environment.  Read more about Lawson’s and the impact that refrigerants have on the environment on our blog! 🍻  https://lnkd.in/e_xfsa45

    • On the left side of the photo, is a dark blue rectangle with text on it. The text reads ‘Thanks to Efficiency Vermont’s expertise and incentives, we were able to identify and purchase a new cooler that meets our space needs and dramatically reduces our carbon emission. That is a win for the planet and our business. - Sean Lawson Founding Brewer and Co-Owner, Lawson’s Finest Liquids.’ Sean Lawson, a middle-aged white man, is pictured in a black short-sleeve button up with the Lawson’s logo on it. Sean is holding a beer and smiling, looking off to his right.

Starting January 2025, the EPA's new regulations will restrict the import, use, and management of HFCs. Join us on June 24th from 12-1pm to delve into what your compliance responsibilities will entail and discover simple actions you can take now to get ready, and start managing the refrigerants across your own operations. Our presenters from Hawai'i Energy and VEIC will be here to help answer all your questions. Not sure if this training is for you? Did you know that EPA’s new rules now cover any system with > 15lbs. of refrigerant and a GWP of 53 or greater? That’s approximately 65% of all HVACR. Why else should you care? Because this is a financial liability. The cost of non-compliance adds up fast – EPA violations are ~$57k/day. Because you want to be part of the solution. In 2017, Project Drawdown identified refrigerant management as the No. 1 solution to mitigate climate change. Who should attend? If you are a building owner, compliance officer, operator, facility manager or team member or service technician that works on refrigeration or HVAC, this discussion is for you. Why are you waiting? RSVP now at https://lnkd.in/gcQm59q5 to secure your spot, and to gain valuable insights on refrigerant compliance at large and how you can take action to manage the refrigerants in your own operations.

Case studies presented by leading manufacturers, about commercial and industrial applications of natural refrigerants. ❄ (Refrigeration Case Studies - Part 3) 🔸 John Collins P.E., Director of Industrial Sales, Zero Zone said, “We have successfully proven that #transcriticalCO2 meets the industrial sector’s needs in warm climates with 2 Genesys CO2 package systems using adiabatic cooling and multistage compression successfully installed and operating in an Arkansas processing facility requiring 400TR of rack storage at −10°F.” 🔸 jonathan tan, EMBA, Co-Founder, Ratio Institute said, “No financial model makes sense to use a synthetic refrigerant on greenfield sites or gut remodels.” 🔸 John Barnes, Senior Engineering Consultant, VEIC said, “We estimate a two-year payback period for using RIVACOLD #propane packages compared to an R134a split system and a six-year payback period compared to R448A based on the #energysavings extrapolated from a month of data in three Vermont sites and usage of the Efficiency Vermont Incentive.” 🔸 Amrit Robbins, Co-Founder, Axiom Cloud said, “Our AI-based automatic leak detection services detected 32 #HFC leaks in 115 Sprouts stores in California from April to December 2023, saving an average of 259lbs per leak and avoided two potential emergency cooling outages that would have been otherwise undetected.” #GoNatRefs #ATMOAmerica #NaturalRefrigerants #Refrigeration   Scott Ercole, P.E., Michael Garry
