VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center reposted this
Virginia State University Honors College students continue to amaze me with the variety and quality of experiences that they complete summer after summer! This summer our students completed internships, research placements, fellowships, and study abroad programs with federal and state agencies, Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, and lots of universities!!! On Friday afternoon, I had the opportunity to attend the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center organized poster symposium. This event allowed students from three related programs to showcase the research that they conducted this summer. Virginia State University students were included in the Cancer focused Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) and the VCU C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research sponsored Honors Summer Undergraduate Research Program. Additionally, all 6 VSU students who completed research fellowships this summer under the joint VSU-VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center The National Institutes of Health Partnersip for Cancer Disparities Research and Training Program (SUCCEED) presented their work. This NIH award is led by co-pi’s Dr. Rob Winn, Dr. Vanessa Sheppard, from the VCU side and M Omar Faison and me from VSU. #hbcu #hbcuexcellence #research #vsu #greaterhappenshere
