Busy week at VaynerSpeakers! Here's what happened ⬇️ Back in May, Rachel Tipograph and the BRAVE COMMERCE Podcast went live in NYC with a panel of industry leaders from Colgate-Palmolive to Microsoft and now the entire catalog is on demand. 🧑💻 Christina Tosi and Milk Bar partnered up with Converse and this one takes the cake! Fans can build high-top sneakers with Milk Bar graphics, colors, logos, and patterns. From sprinkles and cookies to the iconic Milk Bar logo. 🍰 Ryan Holiday was on The Motley Fool Money podcast. 🎧 Robert Greene’s 48 Laws of Power hit #4 in nonfiction audiobooks. 📈 Dominique Dawes had a sculpture unveiled of her in her hometown of Silver Spring, MD. 🤸🏾 And today the Olympics begin! Dominique Dawes was on NBC News and people are getting on YouTube to show their love for Dominique and her inspiration. Kerri Walsh Jennings is in Paris ready to be on TV while also launching a multi-year spokesperson deal with The Upper Deck Company. And Christina Tosi leaves us with some words of wisdom on the benefit of practice: "You might be thinking, I'm just not the creative type, but you wanna know what? I'm not naturally more creative than anyone in this room. I'm creative because I work hard at it. I work hard at it every single day and that's because creativity is a practice." 💡

What perfect timing.... with the Olympics kicking off in less than a week, I am truly humbled and beyond proud to be honored by Montgomery County and the State of Maryland with a life size statue, minutes from our Nation's Capitol, Washington D.C. commemorating my 1992 #barcelona 1996 #atlanta #atlantafalcons and 2000 #sydneyaustralia Olympic Games and overall career. When approached by the renowned sculptor Brian Hanlon to sculpt a statue of me, I replied: "No, Thank you." He then said: "Dominique Dawes, this is not about you, it's about kids and people who look like you and when upon seeing your statue, they then can say: If she could, then I can." This resonated with me and now this Tuesday at noon, in my hometown of Silver Spring, Maryland the statue will be unveiled and stand as a tribute to my legacy. Thank you God for this event and for my abilities that you’ve bestowed upon me as human and as an athlete to inspire the likes of a Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas with USA Gymnastics Inside Gymnastics International Olympic Committee – IOC INTERNATIONAL GYMNASTICS among the countless others to come after them!! With gratitude to so many who’ve cheered me on and have been in my corner along this journey, this is for you as well! Let the Games begin! I’m excited to cheer on The USA 🇺🇸 next week when the summer games in Paris 2024 begin! Strange to think that my teammates and I won “Gold” 28 yrs ago, in Atlanta. It truly seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago, all wrapped into one. Now my biggest passion is handing down the knowledge and love of gymnastics to the kids in my gymnastics academies. Praying for a safe and rewarding Olympic Games for all the athletes around the world! I truly can’t wait for the games to begin!!

It’s true. Changing your working environment by taking a workcation not only helps you – it helps your company, too. Often, people believe that their best ideas come while they're in the shower or running. The reason why people believe that is because that's the only time we let our brains relax – so all the ideas we have come at us can alchemize into more creative solutions. Leaving your current environment staves off burnout, creates more creativity, and allows you to bring solutions back to the office. When you come back, ready and rested, your boss might be a little more intrigued by it. And they might want to take a workcation themselves. (via New York Living)

You’re doing social wrong! Social is about people. It was meant to connect you with your friends and family, share your life, and have conversations. When brands started interjecting ads, it felt like someone walked up to you at a dinner and tried to sell you something. For Elizabeth Arden, we recreated their social account based on a first person view. We showcased her values and worldview in our “Life of Liz” campaign. Social is first and foremost about people, but it also has to be relevant. How do you bring relevance to a 100-year-old company? We borrowed the voice of key influencers like Chelsea Handler, Iris Apfel, and Gigi Gorgeous, who espouse what real beauty is today and challenge outdated, monochromatic views of the beauty industry. By hitting upon the notes of what culture is grappling with today, you become relevant by being part of those conversations. I bet my entire career on this digital transformation at Elizabeth Arden, and I’d do it again. Not only was I able to modernize a 100-year-old brand and attract young customers, but the campaign also resulted in a complete financial turnaround followed by 10 quarters of growth and acquisition by Revlon. Tech innovation isn’t the only way to excel at social—relevance will beat it 9/10 times. Culture eats strategy for breakfast. Need help building a winning brand strategy for social? Dominique Dawes won gold at the 1996 Women’s Team Finals at the #Olympics but that was her second games. At 15-years-old she competed for Team USA at the 1992 Barcelona Games. Now she is looking back at her first Olympics while exclusively chatting to Access Hollywood. Find the link to the exclusive in the comments 💬 ⬇️
Just in time for the #olympics a statue of Dominique Dawes was unveiled Tuesday in Silver Springs, MD. Placed right in front of the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center, it serves as a reminder for the kids who see it daily to dream big! An amazing tribute to Dominique, her Olympic achievements, and the inspiration she brings to her hometown. Congratulations! 👏 😍 #motivation #motivationalspeaker #maryland

Today SELF Magazine is thrilled to introduce our three July 2024 cover stars: Dominique Moceanu, Shannon Miller, and Dominique Dawes. Whether you were old enough to watch the 1996 Olympics in real time or have just seen the grainy clips on YouTube, you’ve likely heard the lore of the Magnificent Seven. Amanda Borden, Dominique Dawes, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Kerri Strug, Amy Chow, and Jaycie Phelps were touted as the best American women’s gymnastics team ever assembled. And on July 23, 1996, when those seven teenage gymnasts in red, white, and blue leotards and matching white scrunchies marched into the Georgia Dome for the women’s gymnastics team final, the crowd of more than 30,000 spectators knew it as they roared. Recently, SELF Magazine brought Moceanu, Miller, and Dawes together to reflect on their gold-medal moment and the years since. They are legends and avatars: the youngest US gymnast to win Olympic gold, the most decorated US gymnast in Olympic history alongside Simone Biles, and the first Black woman to win an individual gymnastics Olympic medal, respectively. At the link in bio, you’ll find the story, written by sports journalist Christine Yu, about the women they’ve become—entrepreneurs, coaches, and advocates—the choices they’ve made, and their reflections on that iconic moment in the Georgia Dome. But most importantly, you’ll find a story about finding their voice and their hopes for the next generation of girls. Tap to read the full cover profile: https://lnkd.in/eN4KkXKK
