The Valley Hospital is pleased to announce the availability of a novel procedure known as renal denervation (RDN) for certain patients suffering from high blood pressure (hypertension). This new offering comes following the approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the Symplicity Spyral Renal Denervation System manufactured by Medtronic – also known as the Medtronic Symplicity™ blood pressure procedure. Valley is one of only three institutions in New Jersey to implement a commercial RDN program, according to Medtronic. "Renal denervation represents a major advancement in our ability to treat hypertension, especially for patients who have not seen success with traditional medications, including medications and lifestyles changes,” said Rajiv Tayal MD, MPH, FSCAI, Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Structural Heart Program at The Valley Hospital. “Our structural heart team is excited to offer this innovative treatment to our patients, which has the potential to significantly improve their health and quality of life.” To learn more about renal denervation treatment at Valley, please visit https://lnkd.in/eVqNcSK4. #HeartCare #ValleyHealthSystem

We had a blast while getting active, and thanks to your support, we raised nearly $63,000 for Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care! Congratulations to our top finishers, who logged over 300 hours of activity combined. A big thank you to our sponsors and all 151 participants. The Valley Hospital recently opened the Earl A. Wheaton, Jr., MD Family Care Center in Ridgewood, named in honor of Dr. Earl Wheaton, Jr., a former Valley physician. Previously known as Valley’s Community Care Clinic, the center is located at Valley Health System – Ridgewood Campus and will also serve as the outpatient office for Valley’s new Graduate Medical Education program. Dr. Wheaton, an internist and rheumatologist, started at Valley in 1960 and held various leadership roles, including Medical Staff President, until his retirement in 2002. He was recognized for his compassionate care and received The Valley Hospital Distinguished Physician Service Award in 1998. Dr. Wheaton passed away in 2021. “Earl Wheaton dedicated his life to medicine, to the care of his patients, and to the development of future Valley doctors,” said Audrey Meyers, Valley Health System CEO Emeritus. “In that spirit, there is no more fitting space to honor Earl’s legacy than this one – the Family Care Center, where our community will receive care and where our new class of residents will train, learn, and grow as physicians.” Group photo caption: (Left to right) Dawn Jaicks, Dr. Robert Brenner, Bryan Jaicks, Jeanne Wheaton, Audrey Meyers, Tim Wheaton, Dave Bohan, Dr. Reham Shaaban, Pam Shorr, and Sarah Wheaton. #ValleyHealthSystem
