About us
UDOT’s vision is as simple and straightforward as our name. We aim to Keep Utah Moving. That includes everything from improving our roads and traffic lights to providing alternate means of getting from A to B, like bike lanes and public transit. We want to make sure that whatever is being moved, freight and cargo or the people in a vehicle, arrives safe and promptly. It isn’t easy, but Keeping Utah Moving is what keeps UDOT going.

Utah is known as the 'Commerce Crossroads of the West,' thanks to its position at the heart of seven major, long-distance highway freight routes. Trucking is a vital force in our economy, ensuring goods are delivered across the state and beyond. To show our appreciation during #NationalTruckDriverAppreciationWeek, we teamed up with the Utah Trucking Association and Utah Transit Authority at the Perry Port of Entry to hand out some goodie bags and express our gratitude to all the truckers passing through. A big shoutout to all the truckers out there – we appreciate everything you do! #TeamUDOT #NTDAW2024

Just another day working at UDOT: making a difference and remote detonating explosives. 😄 ICYMI: Crews recently finished installing the Wyssen Avalanche Mitigation Towers in Little Cottonwood Canyon. These towers are part of the remote avalanche control systems (RACS) that will help us limit artillery use, making avalanche mitigation safer and more efficient this winter. Watch the video to learn more about the project from our avalanche program manager, Steven Clark. #TeamUDOT #avalanchemitigation #WyssenTowers

Imagine a future where you can bike, walk, or scoot safely and seamlessly from home to key destinations, all across the state. The vision for the Utah Trail Network is to make this a reality, connecting communities of Utah with a regional network of paved, family friendly trails. This ambitious plan will give Utahns more transportation choices, reduce traffic, and promote a healthier, more active lifestyle that brings us together. Earlier this year, we shared the first 19 projects receiving funding through the Utah Trail Network program, paving the way for nearly 60 miles of new trails. We're excited to see many of these projects breaking ground as early as next year, bringing us closer to our goal of a more connected and active Utah. #TeamUDOT #activetransportation #UtahTrailNetwork

Check out #TeamUDOT representing at the Utah STEM Fest, Utah State University STEM Fair, and the BYU Civil Engineering Fair! We had an incredible time meeting students of all ages, introducing them to the world of transportation, and sharing the exciting projects we’re working on here at UDOT. Connecting with the next generation of problem solvers and innovators is always inspiring. We’re gearing up for another busy day at the Utah STEM Fest and the Brigham Young University Civil Engineering Fair. If you’re attending, make sure to stop by and say hello! #utahstemfest #civilengineering #hiring

The Region Three team is enhancing connectivity and safety in Provo by adding a traffic signal at the U.S. 89 intersection near the Provo Cemetery, thanks to Highway Safety Improvement Program funds. This project addresses a key barrier for cyclists, providing a safer route between neighborhoods, downtown Provo, and transit corridors. With input from Bikewalk Provo and Provo City, Region Three is also expanding bike signals along 300 South, improving safety and accessibility for everyone. Good work Region Three! #TeamUDOT

Meet Miles, the Clyde Companies, Inc. sweeper truck. Miles is pretty cool because Clyde generously offers Miles’ service for free to help keep Utah’s roads clean. Over the last year they have swept a total of 183 days. 🫡 For their service, Clyde was recently selected as the recipient of the Corporate Spirit of Giving Award from the Utah Philanthropy Day Committee. Litter along our roads is a persistent problem, but it’s one we can tackle together. Through private partnerships like this one and community volunteers through the Keeping Utah Beautiful program we can all be a part of the solution. So the next time you see Miles on the job, give a wave! It's a great reminder of the power of our community coming together to better Utah. #TeamUDOT #ClydeMiles #utahbusiness #volunteer

Don't forget, some of the most impactful service starts in our own communities. 🤝 Last week the Trails and Transit Division team took on a mile of the Porter Rockwell Trail as part of the Governor’s month of service. They clipped overgrown vegetation, picked-up trash, swept, and removed some pesky goatheads. In total, the team collected five bags of trash. To top the morning off they took the Utah Transit Authority TRAX Blue line back to the Expo center, making their service completely powered by bike, walking, and transit. 💪 Thank you Trails and Transit Division for your part in keeping our trails accessible and enjoyable for everyone. #TeamUDOT #OneUtah

If you need some good news this week, we have a story for you. 👇 This is Lucky, the kitten rescued from I-15, with her new family. Last week on our Facebook page, we shared the story of Lucky, the kitten who found herself in a dangerous spot on the inside shoulder of I-15 in Salt Lake County. When our bridge repair crew noticed her, they called in UHP to slow down traffic, allowing them to safely rescue her from the busy freeway. One of the crew members couldn't resist taking Lucky home and making her a part of his family. We stopped by the Gonzales’ house to see how Lucky is faring and she’s definitely thriving. Now, she spends her days playing with three kiddos, a dog, and even a turtle. It’s safe to say Lucky’s living up to her name. See our previous post about the story here: https://bit.ly/47oSYwg
