Watch the latest session from the 2024 ASPHO Conference on the diagnosis and management of pediatric thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA)! TMA is characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and end organ damage, with diverse syndromes marked by severe endothelial damage. Rapid assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of appropriate treatment are crucial to avoid permanent organ damage, high morbidity, and mortality.
In this session, we delve into the integral role of the complement system in maintaining homeostasis between the endothelium, coagulation, and immune system. Loss of this balance can lead to complement mediated-TMA (CM-TMA). While atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is the classic example of complement dysregulation, CM-TMA can also occur due to complement amplifying disorders, such as infection, drugs, cancer, sickle cell disease, and transplantation.
Learn from experts in the field as they present current research and evidence-based strategies to address this complex group of disorders. Additionally, the session covers the creation of registries for Pediatric TTP and CM-TMA. Don't miss this opportunity to stay updated on these critical advancements!

We just wanted to highlight this global effort made experts. Definitely enlightening to see the outcome.
“This unprecedented, international academic effort on such a rare disease provides convincing evidence that caplacizumab added to TPE and immunosuppression prevents unfavorable outcomes during the acute phase of iTTP, including mortality, and alleviates the burden of care at the potential expense of rare, major bleeding events.”
