Today, USTDA announced a continuation of last year’s record-breaking results, generating an average of $231 in U.S. exports for every dollar programmed to facilitate infrastructure development in emerging economies. In fiscal year 2024, new U.S. exports identified by USTDA brought the Agency’s total to $120 billion of exports associated with the projects it has supported since its inception as an independent agency in 1992. Today, USTDA announced it has awarded a feasibility study grant to Bangladesh prepared foods and cold chain services company Bonton Foods Limited to support the deployment of a temperature-controlled logistics network of cold storage refrigeration warehouses in #Bangladesh. The study’s goal is to lower costs and reduce losses of dairy, meat, and other food products, resulting in improved food security for people across the country. #ICYMI Last week at USTDA HQ, our team participated in an interactive presentation on the latest innovations in large-scale solar and transmission planning, solar-powered water pumps, semiconductors, decarbonization mining, and carbon capture from Arizona State University’s ASU Laboratory for Energy And Power Solutions (LEAPS) Dr. Nathan Johnson. Arizona State University is partnering with Fiji’s Ministry of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics on a USTDA-funded feasibility study that will advance the country’s dual goals of 100% rural electrification and renewable power generation by 2036. #IYCMI This week, USTDA Regional Director for the Indo-Pacific Verinda Fike signed an agreement with the Palau National Communications Corporation, awarding additional grant funds to expand USTDA’s support for the modernization of Palau’s mobile telecommunications network. USTDA awarded a technical assistance grant to the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geohazards Department to support the modernization of weather forecasting and early warning systems in #Vanuatu. The project will enhance disaster preparedness and resilience by improving the country’s ability to forecast hazardous weather and disseminate effective early warnings to the public. USTDA’s assistance will also pilot technology from Massachusetts-based Tomorrow Companies Inc. (Tomorrow.io) to improve the speed and effectiveness of these systems.
