At the World Health Summit event in Berlin on Sunday, USAID, World Health Organization, UNICEF, and country representatives reflected on one year of progress since the launch of the Community Health Delivery Partnership. We reaffirmed our commitments to realize a future where community health workers are fully integrated, protected, and empowered as the backbone of primary health care. At the event, the Partnership announced the recent release of the paper “Investing in Community Health Workers to Accelerate Primary Health Care: Advancing Rights, Protections, and Systems Integration,” which is a significant milestone to continued global coordination to strengthen the community health workforce. In alignment with USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy, NPI EXPAND has worked with over 90 local partners across 11 countries to strengthen capacity through grant implementation and other supporting strategies. While some successes are easy to see, in most cases, it takes years to see if capacity strengthening efforts were effective.
