About us
The Urban Transitions Mission (UTM) mobilizes decision-makers across all levels of government to prioritize climate-neutral and net-zero pathways enabled by clean energy and systemic innovation across all sectors and in urban governance. By accelerating capacity-building and closing the gap between research, development and deployment, the Mission will empower cities to adopt innovative solutions and help reach tipping points in the cost and scale of those solutions for urban transitions. Launched at COP26, the UTM is one of the seven missions of Mission Innovation. Mission Innovation is a global initiative catalyzing a decade of action and investment in research, development, and demonstration to make clean energy affordable, attractive, and accessible for all.

The Urban Transitions Mission Centre -TAP Marketplace that took place today on the sides of #ICLEIWorldCongress in São Paulo, Brazil, was a first-class opportunity for #UrbanTransitionsMission (UTM) cities to connect with international financiers and project preparation facility providers to foster urban climate finance. During the marketplace, 3 UTM cities had to the chance to pitch their project ideas to a jury composed of financial experts: ➡️Puerto Montt, Chile, pitched their “sustainable mobility corridor” ➡️Rosario, Argentina, shared more on their #wastetreatment plant, and ➡️Belo Horizonte, Brazil, presented their project to restore local landfill developing new renewable energy. 🗣️ Giorgia Rambelli, Director of the Urban Transitions Mission, emphasized that UTM cities work across a wide variety of sectors, with financing for adaptation & mitigation being among the top cross-cutting priorities, and events such as the UTMC-TAP marketplace help bridge this gap. Thanks for contributing to the fruitful exchanges on collaborative solutions for sustainable urban development! 👏
