ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: MEET YULISSA MENDOZA 🎨 In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, and through our initiative Voces de la Comunidad, we’re highlighting the vibrant voices and talents within these communities. Yulissa Mendoza is a third-generation Latine multi-media artist born and raised in San Bernardino, CA, in the semi-rural community of Muscoy. The foundation of their work stems from their desire to facilitate safe spaces for people to express themselves fully and explore themselves further. They aim to empower marginalized communities and rebuke rigid gender roles, while honoring cultures and pushing the boundaries of fashion and culture. Cindy Lozito is a Philly-based illustrator, muralist, and cartoonist who began creating comics as a way to capture and remember fleeting moments and details. Her work draws on human connection, memory, identity, and an endless curiosity to illustrate stories that bring us closer together. Selected as the 2024 Latinx Month Artist Collaborator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, her project "The Fabric of Belonging" can be seen throughout the city of Philadelphia.
