Don’t throw something together. And please, use spell check. You have the chance to show how great you are, so be great! Ensure that their desk, email, welcome materials, training program, mentor/person to welcome and show them around have been taken care of before they start on their first day. Imagine a new employee showing up to work and having no where to sit, no email or IT set up, and feeling completely lost. They will think they’ve walked into an unorganized organization. Am I exaggerating? It happens all the time. We know you’re busy, but be prepared for your new hire, so you can set them up for success. So here’s my tip for today - ask for feedback. if you apply to a role and you don’t get it or they tell you that they’re going in a different direction politely ask what was it about my candidacy that didn’t work for the employer? Most people won’t offer feedback up unless specifically asked. It’ll help you work on the pieces that might be missing and get better at the interview process! Good luck!
