    More and more retailers are getting into the advertising game: Nordstrom Saks Fifth Avenue (just announced last week) Dollar tree Walmart eBay Walgreens Target Kroger Wolt All these brands have launched their own Retail media networks (aka advertising). They are expanding what Google and Meta have dominated over the last decade. Just like Amazon, all these brands have come to understand how powerful this could be for the business. Which is why Retail media networks will account for 20% of ALL ad spend in 2024. This isn’t like putting adsense in your blog. It’s much bigger. I've seen a 5% bounce in EBITDA for D2C brands who've added some simple text based ads on their order confirmation page. A huge untapped potential is starting to get tapped. Uptick

    Buying intent for an online shopper on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest): Browses the store - 1-3 Finds a relevant product - 4-5 Adds to cart - 5-6 Goes to check out - 7-8 Pays - 9-10 When a shopper completes a purchase, their buying intent doesn’t fall to ‘1’. They’re still in their buying ‘high’ state. They’re still at 9-10. That state of mind is what every seller dreams of. And yet very few eCommerce brands today tap into that post-purchase state of mind.     At TPJ: The Perfect Jean we've run a variety of ecomm businesses over the years. All the while jealously protecting and optimizing every pixel of our site's real estate. However! We long missed an opportunity to give value to customers AND increase our profit levels. Yes — we run post purchase upsells with our product. Yes - we have all manners of post-sale educational and sales emails and sms and all that.  But an old ecomm friend (Rob Jewell) suggested that post purchase real estate is fantastic for showing customers personalized, relevant and crafted offers. I was hesitant:  "Customers will hate this" I said. They'll say "WTF is this ad doing post purchase" (and not buy more jeans). Nope. After working with Rob Jewell and Uptick to craft the RIGHT offers for RELEVNAT product and services … we were kinda happily shocked at how strong customer engagement was.  Overall, Rob Uptick generates cash straight to the bottom line we reinvest in marketing and customer experience. Currently boosting profits by 5% with no impact to customer behavior and no work on our side. We're HAPPY to share this b/c Rob Jewell did us a solid and made us $ ...     User: *Completes a purchase of an item they found online* *Feels good* *Feels satisfied* *Rides a purchase high and wants more* Website: “Thank you for purchasing! Let's continue the party by showing you where you live" What a buzz kill. And much worse - what a wasted monetization opportunity. Mega-opportunity. #ecommerce

    EVERY purchase that takes place on a website or an app is an opportunity for an upsell. The shopper has got a purchase ‘high’.  Their credit card is out.  Intent is high. But they’ve already looked in your inventory, and bought what they need. So sometimes an upsell is possible at this point, and sometimes not.   What eCommerce brands are going to find out during the next few years, is that this upsell IS always possible. It just doesn’t have to be THEIR upsell. It can be someone else’s upsell. And you can still make a buck from it. A lot of bucks. #ecommerce Uptick

    So many eCommerce brands are kicking themselves for not getting into Meta Ads in time. They missed out on a huge opportunity, when prices were affordable.  Now they’re ready to spend, but the cost is just too damn high. They can’t. There’s a lot of regret out there. The same thing is happening right now with TikTok Shops. Are you going to dismiss it or get in on the action NOW, before it's too late? #ecommerce #tiktok

    It’s not just eCommerce that’s going to revolutionize its thank you pages. It’s the entire internet. 5 years from now, monetization will applied in every post-transaction moment: 1. Calling an Uber. 2. RSVPing to an online card for a birthday party. 3. Submitting your email for a newsletter. The way sites and services deal with users that we're finished with, is going to dramatically change. Monetizing users on their way out is still in its infancy. The next 5 years will mature this high-intent, under-monetized vertical, and make it a standard. #ecommerce #marketing
