Fort Worth, Texas! Big Boy #UP4014 will be on display in Fort Worth on Oct. 10 and 11. If you’re planning a trip to see the locomotive, please be aware of the following: -The number of people allowed into the site will be limited in accordance with capacity limits set by the City of Fort Worth, and long wait times are expected. -Visitors should anticipate and prepare for long lines and wait times that could require standing for extended periods of times. No seating is available. -We believe people will be able to get a good look at this extraordinary steam locomotive in about 30 minutes, with plenty of time to take photos. Due to the capacity limits, we encourage people to be respectful and mindful of time, allowing as many people in to see Big Boy as possible. -While we strive to provide access to all guests, Big Boy is positioned in a working rail environment with uneven walking surfaces that may create difficulty for accessibility. Visitors should be aware that viewing the locomotive is only accessible by traversing over uneven walking surfaces, including ballast rock. Big Boy also makes whistle stops on the way to Fort Worth. Union Pacific Railroad reposted this
There was no shortage of things happening in Chicago last week… 1) CREATE meeting and Mark Bristol’s last few days at Union Pacific Railroad. Mark’s knowledge and wisdom are only surpassed by his integrity and generosity. Congrats on 35 years, Mark. We’ll miss you! Thanks for everything. 2) HIRE360 Partners ribbon cutting on their new training center. They are doing awesome things for women- and minority-business and career development. Great to be with Jay Rowell, Bob Reiter, Michael Cassidy and Herbert Smith. 3) Rail Safety Week. See Tracks? Think Train! It’s so important for us to educate and enable the public to be safe around trains. Fun to be with IL Deputy Governor Bria Scudder, Peter Skosey, Tim Butler, and Aisha Jackson from Operation Lifesaver IL at Union Station to share this critical message. #unionpacific #railroad 🚂

📆October has arrived! This month's Union Pacific Calendar photo was taken by Brian Stevens in Beaver, Iowa. A good portion of the Great Lakes Service Unit was built in 1867 by the Chicago, Iowa and Nebraska Railroad - which later became the Chicago and North Western Railway Co. - the first railroad to build tracks across Iowa. The Chicago and North Western Railway Co. merged with Union Pacific in April 1995. If you have not yet purchased your UP calendar, you can do so at UnionPacificStore.com or this fall during Big Boy's Heartland of America tour, where we'll also have 2025 UP calendar pre-orders.
