A recent Scientific opinion by European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the increase in prevalence of various Vibrio spp. in seafood was linked to climate change. A shift towards conditions more conducive for vibrio growth and persistance will affect both the geographical and temporal distribution of these foodborne pathogens. In the search for alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters, bacteriophages are not yet considered as the method of choice. But we strongly believe they can and will be.
