If you think you're safe and happy enough in your job to be rude to someone else just trying to do their job, congratulations! but also maybe take a look at the news, or linkedin, or twitter, or talk to a neighbor..... I get that as a group, recruiters aren't the most loved and can be kind of obnoxious. i get that you have been sent a bunch of spam emails about jobs that are "below" you or don't match your skill set. I get that we hit you up about working with you to find people for your openings but you aren't a manager so you can't do anything. BUT. Most good recruiters will just say "ok, thanks for letting me know" if you say not interested. And then you haven't damaged a relationship permanently because you told some newbie to go F themselves because they had the absolute AUDACITY to reach out about a potential employment opp. the world is changing fast, especially in tech. I know if it were me, which often times it is, I choose the path of respect and kindness. Try it. It's helped me a ton in the last few years, after I thought I was "unfireable" because i am good at what I do, but got fired anyway... Keep it humpy out there for humpday. Richie 😘 PS. All of you recruiters out there that I just stuck up for, chill on the spam. Your job is to find someone with the right skills THEN inundate them with messaging, not just throw a huge wide net to anyone with 2 matching keywords and hope you get the right person to answer. Try a bit harder than zero effort please. #recruiterlife

If you're a recruiter and you don't have any idea what "sense of urgency" is, much less possess this trait, you probably are in the wrong career. here's why.. First lets define it - A sense of urgency is a compelling need to act promptly and effectively in response to situations that demand immediate attention. It’s more than just working quickly; it’s about having a focused drive to accomplish tasks swiftly without compromising quality. This mindset is crucial for meeting deadlines, driving productivity, and addressing critical issues efficiently is that you? here's ways to make it be you if not, before it's too late 1. Become a bartender/server - This is the NUMBER one thing you'll learn if you want to be good in a restaurant. People that dine out first want their stuff, even if you're a moron, if you get their food out in a timely manner you'll earn a tip. If you don't want to do that, you can also work on - 2. Setting Clear Goals: Understanding the importance of setting and achieving goals within specific timeframes. 3. Prioritization: Learning how to identify and focus on high-priority tasks. 4. Time Management: Learning and utilizing tools and techniques to manage time efficiently. 5. Accountability: Embracing a culture of accountability where individuals are responsible for their actions and deadlines. 6. Feedback and Reflection: Regularly reviewing performance and providing constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement. here's your takeaway - Be as fast as possible without sacrificing quality on the candidate or client side. Be accountable and follow up regulary with everyone in the process. There you go. Now go place some people! Richie #recruiterlife

As unprofessional as I find it and don't practice it, being ghosted, wherever you are in the process IS your answer. It is rejection. Here's why it's also a great thing.. You now know that at the very front end of the company, they don't care about how they appear to the public. A solid TA team will have a process for letting people know they were rejected and given whatever feedback is possible. You now know that the agency running that search pushes their reps to get their calls in and there is no one pressing them from the company they are representing to follow through on their processes, it's a numbers game. You know which companies and which recruiters to not work with again. It's an answer on that job. Because I promise you that if that recruiter or hiring manager was going to move you forward or make an offer they would not forget about you. Ghosted by a big agency? Tell them to put you on the DNC list. Most of the big ones share orders with other big ones. You're only ruling one out plus you can still apply direct. No big loss Ghosted by a company? You probably really didn't want to work there. "..the attitude of the knife. cut off what is incomplete and say, 'now it is completed, for it has ended here'" Frank Herbert Have the attitude of the knife in your life and job search. Don't seek closure from others. Be your own. Keep moving. It's Hump Day so keep it humpy out there.. Richie PS - It is easier to change systems from within. Whatever you go through in this job search, remember after you're back in and create the change you wish you'd have seen during your search. #recruiterlife
