The #UNCAN.eu Final Event took place last week on November 14th! In this meeting a strategic roadmap of how the implementation of a European Federated Cancer Research Data Hub should be developed was presented to the European Commission. Some of the attending speakers were European Parliament Members and Policymakers, including European Commissioner for Health and Food safety, Stella Kyriakides, MEP Tomislav Sokol, Belgium's health minister Franck Vanderbroucke and the Vice-Chair of the Cancer Mission Board Prof. Christine Chomienne. Furthermore, Anita Kienesberger represented the voice of the paediatric cancer patients. To finalize the event, Josep Tabernero MD, PhD Michael Boutros, Francesco de Lorenzo, Peter Nagy, Ruggero De Maria and Annika Nowak took part in a roundtable, organized in order to better explain some of the work that has been carried out in the last 15 months. The blueprint for #UNCAN. eu will propose to set up a European Federated Cancer Research data hub and to generate a series of use cases, addressing major challenges in cancer research. These ambitious and innovative, but realistic and focussed, use cases will be cross-border and trans-disciplinary research programmes built in a problem-solving manner. #UNCANeu #CancerResearch #DataHub #ScientificBreakthroughs #Europeaninnovation #CollaborationinAction

In the context of our 10 years celebration we shared with you our ambition to work more and more at an European level. We are already working on the Horizon funded research project PragmaTil But it is just the beginning ! The EU and the cancer mission are particularly forward thinking when it comes citizens taking an active part in research: and there are numerous partners we could collaborate with to foster this participation. Thank you Aliki for inviting us at the closing day of the Uncan project. It was super inspiring and energizing to go through this project whose objective is to share research data, et whose been co-built with citizens. Thank you Eric for a very powerful and moving closing speech Thank you Christine Chomienne for inviting us at the European Cancer Summit, and for opening so many doors for us Penilla, Marius, Marina and Jeliazko. It was lovely meeting you. We are very much looking forward keeping the discussion live. EU, here we come !

Closing event for the 4.UNCAN.eu We're happy to share our blueprint for a brighter future of cancer research! Join us for the closing event of the 4.UNCAN.eu Coordination and Support Action (CSA), funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe program. We'll unveil our blueprint for UNCAN.eu, a European federated cancer research data hub that has the potential to revolutionize the way we understand and treat cancer. UNCAN.eu will make it possible for researchers from all over Europe to share data and collaborate more easily, leading to faster and more effective discoveries. We're excited to share our vision for a future where open sciences accelerate cancer research and improve cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care, leading to a reduction in the cancer burden. The event will take place on November 14th from 13:00 to 15:00 CET at the Thon Hotel in Brussels. We will present our blueprint and discuss its recommendations on how to set up UNCAN.eu. In-person attendance is now closed for registration, but you are more than welcome to register to participate online. Link to register: https://lnkd.in/eBcpBAHC We hope to see you there!

📣 We are joining canSERV’s Annual Meeting in Brussels currently taking place! 🥳 Today’s thematic focus is on Europe-wide cancer activities, their role in the European Cancer European Research Area (ERA), and how these activities and supporting projects can be sustained. 🎗️ Followed by a panel discussion on challenges and opportunities! canSERV complements and synergises with other relevant EU oncology initiatives (e.g., EOSC4Cancer, UNCAN.eu) – its collaborative outcomes will significantly advance European oncology research. #canSERV_AM23 #StakeholderEngagement #EUCancerMission #CancerResearch #HorizonEurope

Despite yesterday's events, EOSC4Cancer had a productive Cancer Data Space Roadmap Consultation in Brussels today. Thanks to the almost 30 stakeholders for discussing with us: - Missing Data Types - Missing Data Sources - National Nodes - Missing additional elements towards a federated #cancerdata infrastructure. Thank you for the constructive perspectives from research, industry, patients, survivors, EOSC and more. inputs will feed into EOSC4Cancer's final Roadmap, to be published early 2025.
