Community. Country. Culture.

About us

The strength of the ULCC is our membership. We are a diverse group of individuals with a common desire to meet others, make connections, learn new things, enjoy the city's cultural offerings and find ways to give back to our community and country. We are from different places, backgrounds, professions and points of view. We are members because we value the opportunity to become friends and together enjoy the ULCC's extensive array of programming and amenities. We consider our clubhouse a home away from home with first-class benefits. There are multiple comfortable spaces to bring a laptop and get serious work done or find time to chat with members from different professions and share ideas and business opportunities. A few floors away are spa and workout facilities with personal training, a swimming pool and competitive sports. Barber, massage and dry-cleaning services are available. Social programs that make it easy to meet people round out the day, and freshly prepared food is offered from breakfast onward in settings that range from casual to luxurious. All to be enjoyed with family, friends or with a good book by a roaring fireplace. The ULCC is the place for newcomers and lifelong Chicagoans alike; for young entrepreneurs, small business owners, professionals looking to grow their careers, and for those at a stage in life where they can pursue new interests and hobbies. This is where busy professionals can come. relax and decompress and where people seeking enrichment can find art, music, charitable foundations, interest groups and fine dining. The Club is not only a venue for business meetings, but for beautiful weddings and private parties -- celebrations of life's best moments. This is a place where members and their guests come to simply enjoy life. With so much to offer its members, it is not surprising that the Union League Club is rated one of the top private clubs in the country.

Member Spotlight: Sun-Hee Yoon ✨ Occupation: I am the founder and owner of Sage Lifestyle Concierge LLC. My business guides older adults and families in navigating the myriad of aging services to maintain their independence and quality of life as the individuals’ needs change. Schools: I graduated from Chosun University in South Korea, earning a B.A English Language and Literature. I also received an A.A.S in Hotel Management from Triton College during the pandemic to better understand the foundations of the Hospitality Industry. What Prompted you to join the ULCC: My husband, Glen Weissenberger, the former dean of DePaul Law School, and I joined in 2023. We wanted to be part of a community that supported entrepreneurs like myself. We are fortunate to have found that here. I was also impressed by the architecture, the ambiance and the hospitality. What did you learn about the Club after joining? After I joined the ULCC, I was very impressed by the Club’s effort in increasing diversity in its membership. I have been impressed with the history and traditions of the club and how those traditions are being updated into a new generation. What is your fondest ULCC memory? To date, I am super appreciative for the opportunity to create a yearlong educational series titled Charting Your Courses: A Roadmap of Healthy and Happy Aging. The objective of the series is to learn and discuss how to navigate every aspect of aging. It’s been exciting to meet so many wonderful members and their guests through this series. Hope to see you there! #clublife

They stopped by to discuss the "The 1901 Project" — a transformative initiative representing the largest investment ever proposed for Chicago's west side. Member Spotlight: Kevin Francis Riley ✨ Occupation: Naval Aviator (U.S. Navy). Currently serving as the Executive Officer & Associate Professor, Navy ROTC Chicago Area Consortium (Northwestern University)   Schools: B.S. Computer Engineering, Marquette University; M.A. Defense and Strategic Studies, Naval War College; M.S. Operations Research, Naval Postgraduate School   What prompted you to join the ULCC? After 22 years in the Navy, I decided my current tour would be my last and that Chicago would be where I start my next life. Filled with nervousness and anxiety at this prospect, I asked my aunt what I should be doing now to ensure success in the next chapter. She emphatically stated that I needed to first join a social club. After 2 months (and no friends) at a popular club centered around fitness, a friend recommended I go on a ULCC tour. Love at first sight.   What did you learn about the Club after joining? The club’s longstanding and continued support for the military was impressive and deeply appreciated. I was touched by the history and am excited about the ongoing relationships. What I have learned in addition to this was how so many club members, varied in their culture, orientation, age, and success, were all so welcoming, warm, and sincere. I am surprised I became friends with such good people in such a short amount of time.   What is your fondest ULCC memory? I have a lot of memories already, but my fondest is the day I was interviewed for membership. My interviewer gave me a tour of the club and we then had cigars on the 8th floor. Later we settled in the Rendezvous lounge for drinks, where he mentioned an event later that night (Boxing and Bourbon). I said I was interested and the next thing I knew, I was yelling “go blue!” during a boxing match. Afterward, he took me on a whirlwind tour of Chicago nightlife. My first day in the club was hands down the best 12-hour interview I ever had. I met members that day who would go on to be friends and knew that the Union League was the club I had been searching for. #clublife
