It wasn’t just a job, it was the beginning of a mission—to make a difference in the lives of healthcare professionals and the patients they care for. 💡 The Early Days: Starting from scratch, the initial years were all about learning and adapting. Building relationships, understanding the market, and figuring out how to bring value to both healthcare professionals and facilities. 💡 The Challenges: Over the years, there were numerous challenges—from finding the right talent to keeping up with the changing healthcare landscape. But each challenge taught me something new and made the organization stronger. 💡 The Milestones: From serving 5 clients to more than 235, from placing a few professionals to helping secure over 4300 jobs across 50 states and 5 countries—it's been a fulfilling journey. 💡 What Keeps Me Going: The passion to continue making an impact. The knowledge that what we do helps hospitals, healthcare providers, and most importantly, the patients who rely on their care. 🎯 Looking Forward: As I reflect on these 20 years, I see the same hunger and drive that I felt on day one. I’d also like to add a few thoughts: 1️⃣ Education and Training Disparity: Despite their extensive training, nurses are often perceived as secondary to physicians, which can diminish their credibility and influence in care settings. 2️⃣ Workplace Violence: Nurses are more susceptible to violence in the workplace, which adds another layer to the challenges they face daily, impacting both their mental health and job satisfaction. 3️⃣ Nurse-Led Innovation: While nurses are at the forefront of patient care, they are often excluded from strategic conversations about healthcare innovation, despite their practical insights and unique perspectives on improving patient outcomes.     Last night marked the third time in the last month that I've been in the #hospital with a family member. This experience has me thinking a lot about why the LARGEST #healthcare workforce—#nurses—are invisible to the healthcare system. Here's my Top 10! 1️⃣ Non-Billable Service: Nursing care lacks a #reimbursement structure, making it a cost center rather than a #revenue generator. This often sidelines nurses in financial discussions and resource allocation and lends itself to a cost-minimization mindset. Commission for Nurse Reimbursement 2️⃣ Gender Dynamics: The #nursing profession is predominantly #female. Gender biases and stereotypes can undervalue nurses' contributions and expertise. The Female Lead 3️⃣ Lack of Representation in Leadership: While nurses make up the largest segment of healthcare workers, they are often underrepresented in executive #leadership and decision-making roles. 4️⃣ Focus on Physician-Centric Care: The traditional model of healthcare places #physicians at the center, often overshadowing the crucial role of nurses in #patientcare and outcomes. 5️⃣ Lack of Public Awareness: Public perception of nursing often focuses on bedside care and task-oriented duties, failing to recognize the complex decision-making, critical thinking, and #STEM skills involved. Nursing Is STEM 6️⃣ Hierarchical Structures: Traditional healthcare hierarchies can perpetuate a power imbalance, limiting nurses' autonomy and influence in patient care decisions. 7️⃣ Limited Research Focus: Compared to physicians, there is often less research focused on nursing practice, which can lead to a lack of evidence-based recognition of nurses' contributions. 8️⃣ Media Representation: Nurses are often underrepresented or portrayed inaccurately in the media, perpetuating stereotypes and undermining their professional image. 9️⃣ "Invisible" Work: Much of nursing care involves emotional support, patient advocacy, and care coordination. These "invisible" tasks are often undervalued and not recognized as essential components of healthcare. 🔟 Normalization of Nurse Burnout: The high levels of nurse #stress and #burnout have become normalized, which can lead to a lack of recognition of the toll the profession takes and the need for systemic change.
