The 30% of breast cancer survivors who suffer from insomnia may find relief by practicing Tai Chi, according to a new study led by UCLA Health's Dr. Michael Irwin. The study, recently published in the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity, also revealed that Tai Chi can help reduce inflammation, which potentially improves the body’s defenses against infections. Brooke Balck was 2 years old when she received a life-saving heart transplant. Despite a bumpy first year, she thrived and started kindergarten alongside her peers. Now, she "can just live a normal teenage life," which includes soccer, competitive dance, tennis and track - also completing the OC Marathon in 2022.
