UABSON Assistant Professor Lindsey Harris has been selected as an Ambassador of the Friends of the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR). The program began in 2014 with the directive of advancing research in the National Institute of Nursing Research and now includes more than 50 Ambassadors, with the addition of 21 new nurse scientists this year. Simulations offer students opportunities to practice skills in a low-stakes environment. Our Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner students recently took part in an immersive, mass causality simulation where they encountered numerous traumas involving advanced manikins and live patients, navigating high-stress conditions that are found in real-life disaster situations.

Are you a nurse who has a passion for providing care to newborns and their families? Consider a career as a neonatal nurse practitioner. The UAB School of Nursing offers a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialty for both MSN and DNP students. The part-time program combines online learning with hands-on clinical experience to prepare nurses to care for newborns, infants and toddlers with acute or chronic health conditions. The application deadline for Summer 2025 admission for both speciality tracks is October 10.
