"Team focused" We had a blast at the School of Education and Human Sciences Alumni Tailgate last Saturday as the @uab_fb hosted the Extra Yard for Teachers football game! It was great seeing our wonderful alumni, students, faculty, and staff enjoy themselves (even in the rain!). Don't miss our next tailgate, this weekend, on October 5th. Hope to see you there!

There were some more familiar faces from our Kinesiology program who presented at the 10th Annual UAB Center for Exercise Medicine Symposium with the focus of Exercise and Neuroscience. Dr. Ballmann (Associate Professor, Kinesiology) presented on Sympathomimetic Stimulants and Exercise Performance, Christina Graziano's (Senior, Kinesiology) research focused on the Effects of Censoring Explicit Lyrics in Music on Heart Rate Variability: Implications for Exercise Performance, and Sophia Porrill's (Graduate Student, Exercise Physiology) research focused on Yohimbine Ingestion as a Potential Confounder to Exercise Intensity Monitoring: Possible Considerations for Safety and Usage. Great work!

We are so thankful for the new addition to our stairwell!
We are excited to announce the completion of our mural at the UAB School of Education and Human Sciences, as part of our #StairwayToWellness campaign. This initiative aims to promote daily #physicalactivity by encouraging the use of stairs.

Here at the School of Education and Human Sciences, we pride ourselves in our faculty's global impact. Look no further than the work of Dr. Lori Edmonds to see this in action. Dr. Edmonds, an Assistant Professor of English Learner Education, has been selected for a two-week English Language Specialist project by the United States Department of State. The project will focus on eco-anxiety and trauma-informed teaching strategies for Hungarian and Ukrainian English teachers in Siόfok, Hungary. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Edmonds on this incredible accomplishment. You can read more about her project in the article attached to this post.

Our elementary education majors always look forward to their Science Methods in Elementary School class because their final project includes a creative robot activity. This past semester our students were given the task of creating a robot using recycled materials and hummingbird robotics kits. The theme for this year's project was the solar system. Great job, students! 🤩
