Safeguarding Education: Protecting Schoolchildren in #Nigeria Ten years after the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in #Chibok, the threat of kidnapping and abduction continues to jeopardize the safety of schoolchildren across northern Nigeria. Since 2014, more than 1,600 children have been abducted or kidnapped in the region. 1. Children in northern Nigeria face significant risks while pursuing an education, with the constant threat of abduction or kidnapping. 2. Implementing and sustaining effective measures to protect schools and children remains a critical challenge, despite the endorsement of the Safe Schools Declaration and the adoption of a Safe School Initiative.
