TVA is thrilled to share that the Salem Historic Landmark Commission recently awarded the Benjamin Maxwell Award for Outstanding Example of New Construction in a Historic District to the The Holman Hotel. Located within the National Register-listed Downtown Salem Historic District, the design of the hotel’s façade is a thoughtful reflection of the district's architectural heritage. The building’s form, massing, and use of exterior materials honor the few remaining structures that speak to Salem's architectural history. Inside, the hotel's rooms and communal spaces bear the names of the city's pioneering women, celebrating their contributions to Salem's rich heritage. Congratulations to the team, and thank you to the Salem Historic Landmarks Commission for this honor. An exciting day in Redmond yesterday! Congratulations to the team and St. Charles Health System. TVA is thrilled to be a part of this much-needed project!
What a privilege to be at the groundbreaking of the new St. Charles Cancer Center in Redmond. We are so proud to apply our knowledge of sustainable, trauma-informed, and evidence-based design to improve patient and staff experience. Over 40% of patients treated at the St. Charles Cancer Center in Bend travel from Redmond, Madras, Prineville, and other rural Central Oregon communities for their care. This new, two-story, 53,000 sf comprehensive Cancer Center will provide cutting-edge care closer to home. Thank you to our St. Charles team for their vision and all of our design and construction partners for getting us to this moment! Capturing our completed projects is always exciting, and collaborating with Ryan Gobuty to achieve this is truly a delight!
Last summer, I had the privilege to work with my friends and collaborators at TVA Architects in Oregon, completing the exterior portion of their beautiful project for Advantis. I am so proud of these images, and I hope you enjoy them as well! Thank you to Pamela Saftler for believing in my work, and Tim Wybenga for speaking the language of architectural photography and pushing me to improve. Kristy Edmark in marketing orchestrated a perfect day of photography.

Huestis Hall is a teaching and research hub for biological sciences and home to the University of Oregon’s Institute of Neuroscience. This project fully renovated the original 1973, 65,000 sf building and added 9,000 sf to meet the University’s goals. While the core requirement of the renovation was to improve safety and building performance through a seismic upgrade and complete replacement of building systems, the team also met the aspirational goals of providing open, flexible, and light-filled teaching and research laboratories that foster collaboration and build community. This project is on track for LEED Platinum Certification, as a result of various sustainable strategies, including biophilic design. This approach embraces a visual connection with nature, dynamic and diffuse light, connection with natural systems, biomorphic forms and patterns, and material connection with nature, prospect, refuge, and mystery. Faculty researchers have already settled in and we are on schedule to welcome students for classes in the Fall! The success of the project is due to our entire project team, including: Contractor: Lease Crutcher Lewis Structural Engineer: catena consulting engineers MEP: Systems West Engineers Civil Engineer: KPFF Consulting Engineers Landscape Architect: Mayer/Reed, Inc.
