From L2s to the future of Ordinals, #Bitcoin Nashville massively set the stage for what's to come over the next year. These are our takeaways 🧵 2024 has been full of Bitcoin milestones: 🔸 Spot ETFs ushered in a new wave of investors 🔸 Bitcoin's price reached a new ATH 🔸 Bitcoin's 4th halving event occurred 🔸 Runes launched, bringing fungible tokens to the L1 🔸 Bitcoin surpassed 1 billion transactions Trust Machines has been focused on Bitcoin L2s since our beginning, and Nashville marked a significant shift compared to last year's conference. We believe the surge in Bitcoin L2s at the Nashville conference was highly encouraging, signaling a bright future for Bitcoin. Why Bitcoin L2s? Our COO Rena Shah highlighted a pivotal point during her presentation at the Bitcoin Builders Conference: "When you want to build a product that has high value settlement, you will come to Bitcoin." Bitcoin has the strongest security and decentralization out there. But it needs help scaling. And that's where L2s come in. Bitcoin L2s will ensure that Bitcoin can support a broader range of apps and handle increased transaction volumes while maintaining its strengths. Leather and .locker are two Trust Machines products that were represented at a number of events in Nashville last week. We covered everything from the work being done on sBTC to how wallets like Leather are aiming to simplify access points for new Bitcoin users. After all, even Satoshi believed that Bitcoin needed L2s to scale. The advent of Ordinals in 2023 and, more recently, the Runes protocol only highlighted how much more work needs to be done to onboard more users to Bitcoin. At Inscribing Nashville, Ordinals creator Casey Rodarmor spoke about Ordinals' impact on Bitcoin. A panel on rare sats discussed how artists like Erin Redwing and POSTWOOK are using Bitcoin not just to preserve art on Bitcoin, but to preserve history on specific dated sats. The groundwork is being laid for a more resilient and scalable Bitcoin network. But the road ahead, as many have emphasized, is still long, with a number of developments needed for the world’s oldest blockchain to achieve its true potential. These foundational efforts will play a pivotal role in Bitcoin's continued growth and its ability to fulfill its promise as a decentralized financial system for the world.
