Helping people transition from homelessness to housing.
About us
Transition Projects provides individuals with the services, resources and tools they need to end their homelessness, secure housing, and maintain that housing. - Each year, we assist more than 10,000 people experiencing homelessness. - On any given day, we help meet the basic needs of more than 700 people through our Day Center. - On any given night, we provide a safe place to sleep for more than 800 people with nowhere else to turn. - In any given year, we help place more than 800 people into affordable housing - and then support them in retaining that housing. Whenever and wherever we can, we advocate for policies and initiatives that affirm the right of all people to a place they can call home. Want to join our team of passionate changemakers? Genentech has been a nearly decade-long supporter of Transition Projects. Recently a team of 13 Genentech employees volunteered with us during their Genentech Gives Back Week. They sorted donations that will be used by our eight shelters, Navigation Team doing outreach, and our Resource Center — which sees on average 300 people daily, 365 days a year for showers, hygiene items, laundry, clean clothes, mail services, and more. Our Development Team also met with Genentech employees at the volunteer fairs held on their two campuses. A special shout out to Jenn Klotz — Sr. Community Relations and External Communications Lead in OR — for your partnership! Thanks for your continued support, Genentech!

We're so glad to have you back on our board, Alan Shoebridge!
Associate Vice President @ Providence | Communications, PR and marketing executive | Board member | Industry speaker | Author
I'm so pleased to rejoin the Transition Projects board of directors. Serving on the board from 2012-18, and helping carry on the support that Providence Health & Services has provided for decades, was a rewarding experience. Homelessness was a major problem in Portland when I left the area in 2018, and sadly, the situation had become even more dire when I returned in 2021. I can't imagine what things would be like without Transition Projects helping those in need get housing. When I first joined the board, I knew next to nothing about homelessness - other than it was clearly a visible problem. Russ Danielson, chair of the board at the time, asked me if I had a passion for the issue. I was honest, and replied that while I didn't feel passionate about it, I wanted to learn more and help those who were on the streets. Today, I can honestly say that I have a deep passion for helping address homelessness and a much better understanding of the underlying issues. I'm deeply appreciative to Tony Bernal, Roma Peyser, and all of the current board members for giving me a chance to contribute once again. I invite you to learn more about volunteering or donating to Transition Projects by following the organization here on LinkedIn.

Transition Projects condemns the Supreme Court’s ruling in Grants Pass v. Johnson, which allows localities to arrest and fine people for living outdoors. Lower courts have ruled that this punishment violates the Constitution’s Eighth Amendment. However, today the Supreme Court ruled that people may be punished because they cannot afford a place to live. Criminalization will harm people in our community and make homelessness more difficult and expensive to solve. Read our full statement at https://lnkd.in/gdvXcS2D

Thank you to Port of Portland CFO, Antoinette Chandler for hosting a tour of the new PDX airport terminal for Transition Projects CEO, Tony Bernal and some of our board members. The remodel is stunning and the terminal is scheduled to be unveiled to the public on August 14.
