🚨 𝘿𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙯𝙚𝙧𝙤-𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣! 🚤⚡ In recent years, our partners have pioneered the world’s first fully electric fast ferries – and they're ready to scale up their solutions. 💡 But now, the Norwegian Government is backpedalling on its promise to implement zero-emission requirements in public tenders for high-speed passenger ferries 🙅♂️ In a story published by NRK (link in comments), industry leaders like Norled AS, Brødrene Aa, Corvus Energy, Iverson eFuels AS/Hy2gen, Bergen Havn, Havila Kystruten and others are voicing their concern: With policy reversals like this, Norway risks losing its leadership in green technology ⚠️ Luckily, many voices in Parliament agree with us: We need strong policies to keep the momentum going. The ferry revolution must not be allowed to falter before the finish line! 🛳️ I met Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) to talk about the worrying lack of action on zero-emission ferries. 🚢⚡ A nation-wide zero-emission requirement for ferry contracts has been on the table for many years, but the government is still dragging its feet on implementing the regulation. 📝⚠️ The result is that many public tenders are now being published without zero-emission mandates. Requirements in public tenders are key to scaling up our home market for clean maritime solutions. 🌊🔋 The technology that is developed for the ferry sector, including battery systems, battery swapping, and hydrogen solutions, could play an important role in decarbonising other segments as well – including offshore, short-sea, and deep-sea vessels. ⚓🌐 In 2015, we got the world’s first fully electric car ferry. Today, we have more than 90 zero-emission ferries on the fjords. 🌍💚 We need to show continued commitment and leadership.
