Obtaining the Certified Prescribed Burn Manager certification requires extensive classroom and field training. Nate’s dedication to enhancing our native prairie areas through prescribed fire management is commendable. This certification highlights his expertise and underscores his commitment to environmentally friendly practices in park maintenance. Prescribed burns play a crucial role in managing native prairies effectively. By removing unwanted species and promoting the growth of desirable trees, wildflowers and other plants, Nate’s work contributes significantly to the health and biodiversity of our park ecosystems. We are thrilled to celebrate Jenny Keigher, our Human Resources Director, on the completion of her program at the University of Illinois Springfield’s School of Public Management and Policy! Jenny embarked on this journey in 2018, navigating through the challenges of the pandemic and welcoming two beautiful babies along the way. Today is a testament to her dedication. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Ladeen Finley, Assistant Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities Department achieved the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) Green Building (GB) Advanced by GBAC with Honors certification for ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association. Normal is one of two municipalities in the nation to achieve this level of professionalism as an in-house service provider. CIMS GB with Honors is the first consensus-based management standard outlining primary characteristics of a successful, quality cleaning organization. They honor six core elements of management best practices, including: • Quality Services • Service Delivery • Human Resources • Health, safety and environmental stewardship • Management commitment • LEED EB: O&M This honor identifies the Town as a credible, quality focused and customer-oriented organization.
