Join us as we celebrate these recent #PeakPerformers! The Town of Apex recognizes a PEAK Performer each month from a pool of peer-nominees who exemplify the Town's PEAK Principles of Performance, Empowerment, Accountability, and Knowledge. Photo 1: Lisa Raschke, Special Events Coordinator, in Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources, was named the March 2024 Peak Performer for her dedication to excellence while planning and hosting the ‘Designing Women’ panel for Women’s History Month. The thought that Lisa put in to the panel members, the moderator, and the event as a whole showed her understanding of the impact that women in the world of design and development of public spaces can have on a community. Photo 2: John Lanzer, Information Technology Specialist in IT, was named the April 2024 Peak Performer for consistently going above and beyond for his Apex teammates. John exceeds expectations by consistently delivering exceptional IT service, even when it is beyond his scope of responsibility. Photo 3: Meghan Rushing, Recreation Program Supervisor in Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources, was named the May 2024 Peak Performer for her dedication and hard work in adding new Senior Center events and activities, quadrupling the number of Senior Center participants in a single year. Meghan has made the Senior Center a welcoming place and provides residents with opportunities to enjoy numerous social, physical, and educational activities that improve their overall quality of life.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Apex Mayor Jacques K. Gilbert and Town Clerk Allen Coleman attended the summer meeting of the North Carolina League of Municipalities and North Carolina Metro Mayors. Mayor Gilbert serves as Vice-Chair of the North Carolina Metro Mayor’s Coalition, and the Office of the Town Clerk leads the Town’s efforts on government relations and strategic partnerships. During the meeting, a status update was given on the development and progress of the State’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget, and other legislation approved or circulating in the North Carolina General Assembly. After a presentation given by Raleigh’s Police Chief Estella Patterson on the “New Era of Public Safety”, each Mayor provided an update on their specific municipal projects - with Mayor Gilbert highlighting Apex's plan for implementing new Civilian Traffic Investigators.

❇ Green ribbons and golden moments ❇ We are thrilled to share some highlights of the ribbon cutting for the Mason Street Municipal Building! This marks a significant milestone for our community as we unveil a new home for two pivotal departments: the Planning Department and the Inspections & Permits Department. Together, these departments will reside in this new facility designed to streamline processes and enhance collaboration. This building is more than just a workspace; it's a symbol of our commitment to progress and excellence.

The Town of Apex recently hosted a delegation of officials from the country of Moldova. The delegates were part of Open World, a ten-day program administered by the Congressional Office for International Leadership that brings emerging leaders from Eurasia to the United States to engage with professional counterparts.   The program was established in 1999 to foster cultural and political ties. Since its inception, the program has brought over 30,000 delegates to 2,300 communities throughout all 50 states. The Moldova delegates had a one-day orientation in Washington D.C. before traveling to our selected town of Apex. The delegates home-stayed with local families and participated across the Triangle in a series of meetings, interviews, presentations, and panel discussions with experts in their fields.   During their time in Apex, the guests met with Town leadership and local, regional and state leaders in economic development and planning. Topics discussed included recruitment and retention of business, target industries both locally and statewide, planning best practices, municipal organization and the challenges that come with rapid growth. The visit also included a tour of the Town of Apex, highlighted by a visit to a local industrial park to tour a speculative building.   We are excited to have been selected for this opportunity and are proud that the Town of Apex could showcase why it is known as the Peak of Good Living.
