The world is still reeling from a massive information glitch that impacted Microsoft cloud-computing services early Friday, but this isn't the only glitch that occurred last week. The most notable for the advertising and ecommerce industry occurred with Amazon, which temporarily had to shut down its systems when its advertising portal crashed last Tuesday night, temporarily disrupting the company's #PrimeDay sales event and created issues for media buyers trying to access the platform. “Companies will always be limited in what they can do, it's not their infrastructure to upgrade or maintain - just like when anything goes down, get creative and consider all your options,” said Tinuiti's Elizabeth Marsten, in reference to the Amazon outage. “In our case, because we had an API connection via Skai as a campaign management platform, we were able to push changes through. On Tuesday night, Amazon's advertising portal crashed temporarily disrupting the ability for media buyers to log in to the platform during #PrimeDay. Our teams noted intermittent load-time issues about two hours before the full crash, which occurred around 8:33 pm PST and came back up around 9:53 pm PST. According to Tinuiti's Elizabeth Marsten, "the crash led to frustration among advertisers and their agency partners as they struggled to access advertising dashboards and manage campaigns." https://lnkd.in/g9rDHivK
