For this week’s #tilsontuesdays employee spotlight, meet Patrick Durkin! Patrick has been with Tilson for over two years and works as a Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist within our Technology division. His main focus is gathering and analyzing data to produce visualizations in the form of maps, Google Earth files, and interactive Web Map applications. This information is then used by our Broadband Consulting team to make informed network design decisions as well as to help clients understand complex information in a visually appealing way. One of his most memorable projects with Tilson was helping to map areas of interest for a broadband project with the state of Colorado. As part of this work, the GIS team invented a mapping solution from scratch that helped target select recipients for federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act Capital Project Funds. For this week’s #tilsontuesdays employee spotlight, meet Matthew Jensen! Matt is the Regional Director of Engineering Projects in Las Vegas, where he oversees multiple specialized teams as they deploy fiber optic infrastructure to the community. He supports the planning, design, permitting, and construction of these networks, which is all done in-house at Tilson. Since joining Tilson in 2023 as an OSP Project Manager, Matt has been promoted to Engineering Project Manager, Assistant Director of Engineering, and this past February was promoted to become Regional Director of Engineering Projects. Prior to joining our team, Matt served in the Army as well as the Minnesota National Guard for a combined six years. His Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and he served one tour in Egypt. “One of the many reasons I enjoy working at Tilson is the military roots – being a veteran-led company and having veterans throughout the ranks, it gives some familiarity of structure and camaraderie found in the service,” Matt said. “I also find that Tilson has done a tremendous job of fostering open communication across teams and levels, strengthening team collaboration and feeding into what makes Tilson a powerhouse of a company.” You are a wealth of talent and positive energy, Matt, and we are so grateful to have you on the team. Tilson's Las Vegas Outside Plant team participated in the Nevada Regional Common Ground Alliance (NRCGA) excavator safety training last week, which was hosted by Southwest Gas Corporation.
