Last week, senior leaders from across Three Ships’ businesses, Home Solutions and Stacksphere, and Pillar4 Media gathered at the beautiful Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem for our inaugural Summit conference 🌟 — a few energizing days that underscored the power of connection and leadership. The Summit was built around The Leader’s Compass, an internal book co-authored by Zach Clayton, Lauren Schwenk, and Aarti Sura. The event included time for personal reflection and leadership development, inspiring fireside chats and keynote speakers, and plenty of fun, with s’mores by the campfire, lawn games, and a Casino Night 🎲. Seeing everyone share, learn, and enjoy each other’s company was incredible, and we're grateful to have fostered connections that will keep fueling our growth across Three Ships.

About us
Three Ships specializes in the digital distribution of products and services. We identify opportunities, launch businesses, build great leadership teams, and help them scale. Our purpose is to help leaders unlock their full potential through the journey of building high-growth, healthy businesses. Our approach to digital marketing is supported by years of success in creating performance-driven content, media investment management, and conversion rate optimization. Among our arsenal of assets, we have invested more than $3 million in developing a proprietary machine-learning technology to organize the way we identify, compete, and win search keywords. We have also successfully built and sold two businesses: -- Demand Signals, a software platform that applies machine learning for organic search. We incubated this internally, spun it out into an independent company, and sold it to TRANZACT, the leader in direct-to-consumer customer acquisition for the insurance industry. -- Lavalier. We invested capital and served as Agency of Record for Lavalier.com, which grew to become #1 in the online jewelry insurance category. Berkley (NYSE: WRB), one of the leading US insurance companies, acquired Lavalier to accelerate its distribution strategy for specialty insurance.

Three Ships is proud to celebrate two of our portfolio leaders for their efforts in our community. Trey Chandler, Home Solutions' CFO, was recently elected to the board of directors at Families Together. Through providing direct support and advocacy, Families Together assists families with children as they transition from homelessness to sustainable housing and stable homes. Walker Fuller, our Three Ships' CFO, was also recently elected to the board of directors at TABLENC, which delivers healthy food and nutrition education to children in Orange County, North Carolina. Congratulations to Trey and Walker, and thank you for your service!

On October 2nd, Three Ships Community Impact was pleased to host Donald Jonas, Vice President of Social Impact at Advocate Health, in our Charlotte office. Don spoke with our team about service leadership through his experience with influencing outcomes and finding focus, in a discussion led by department President, Molly O'Connor. Our team was particularly inspired by Don's overview of Advocate's relief efforts to support our Western North Carolina community in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Check out Advocate Health's profile to learn more about their relief efforts.

On Friday, May 17th, Three Ships Community Impact hosted a foster family appreciation night in partnership with the Methodist Home for Children at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Our goal was to celebrate the amazing foster families at MHC and inspire new families to open their doors to these deserving children. More than 100 current and prospective family members registered for our appreciation night. We were excited to celebrate 20 current foster families (a group of nearly 70, with 40 children in attendance), and engage with 11 new prospective families. Kids and adults alike enjoyed a private museum experience where they could explore and have fun -- and meet a few live animals for the brave attendees (including a milk snake, a tarantula, and a mini-hedgehog). We thank Tatenda Perry, Jeannie Norris, Pam E. Powell, Tomika Brooks, and the MHC leadership and staff in partnering to make such a successful event!

Three Ships is thrilled to support Methodist Home for Children this holiday season! Molly O'Connor, President of 3S Community Impact, led a cross-portfolio effort to express our gratitude to MHFC's incredible foster families. Our companies banded together in Charlotte, Raleigh, and remote to assemble holiday gift bags and hand-write thank you notes to support the nearly seventy foster families who partnered with MHFC this year. We encourage everyone in our network to check out MHFC and spread awareness that there is a crisis in the NC foster care system. More than 10,000 children are currently in foster care in North Carolina, and less than 5,500 licensed foster homes are available to support these children. Since 2020, there's been a 20% decline in foster homes capacity. Thousands of local children are in need of safe temporary housing and support. We feel honored to partner with MHFC to increase its foster home capacity in 2024! We look forward to sharing more about 3S Community Impact and our mission of giving back to our community in the upcoming months. Until then, happy holidays to you and your families!
