Our Managing Partner, John Kyriakides, recently participated in the 2nd Rule of Law Conference organized by the American - Hellenic Chamber of Commerce. As Chairman of the Chamber's Legislative Reforms Committee, Mr. Kyriakides delivered a powerful speech emphasizing that the Rule of Law is a fundamental pillar for the development and prosperity of every nation and society. He highlighted its connection to progress, stability, trust in institutions, investment attraction, and economic well-being.   Mr. Kyriakides also engaged in an insightful discussion with Judge Francesco Depasquale, President of the European Commission for the efficiency of justice (CEPEJ). They explored topics such as the role of CEPEJ, Greece's position in evaluation reports, cyberjustice, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the justice sector. The discussion further delved into methodologies for developing strategies aimed at reducing delays in the judicial process.   Additionally, our Litigation Partner, Vicky Kriketou, participated in a panel discussion moderated by Professor Dimitrios Tsikrikas of National & Kapodistrian University of Athens' Faculty of Law. Ms. Kriketou shared her expertise on the challenges facing mediation in Greece, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture supportive of alternative dispute resolution among both parties and their legal representatives.   At KG Law Firm, we are proud to have leaders like John Kyriakides and Vicky Kriketou who contribute to shaping the future of justice and legal reforms.   #KGLawFirm #RuleOfLaw #LegalReforms #JohnKyriakides #VickyKriketou #AmCham #CEPEJ #Cyberjustice #AIinJustice

What you should know about the Act for Markets in Crypto-Assets? 🤔 Almost a year has passed since the Regulation on markets in crypto-assets came into force and the member states have been thereafter introducing national legal acts for specifying the regulation. Two weeks ago it was Estonia’s turn when the Estonian parliament adopted the Act for Markets in Crypto-Assets. Here are the main take-aways: 📌 No simplified transition: Estonia does not foresee a simplified transition for entities which operate currently under the authorisation for virtual currency service providers. 📌 Maximum transition deadline: Virtual currency service providers can provide services under their current authorisation until 1 July 2026. 📌 Requirements for the management: The crypto-asset service providers are required to have a two-member management board and generally a three-member supervisory board. Considering the small size of the Estonian market, finding additional qualified board members will be a challenge. 📌 Similar supervision to financial institutions: the crypto-asset service providers shall go under the supervision of the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority and the reference standard here will be financial entities. For more detailed insights, read the full article by #Ellex FinTech experts Anneli Krunks and Marko Kairjak: https://bit.ly/45C4J19 #fintech
