I am delighted to announce the publication of our manuscript, “Wafer-scale fabrication of InGaP-on-insulator for nonlinear and quantum photonic applications” in the latest issue of Applied Physics Letters from AIP Publishing. Our breakthrough in producing a high-yield 4" (100 mm) diameter InGaP-on-insulator structure marks a significant milestone in the development of manufacturable and scalable high-performance integrated nonlinear photonics. 🔗 Read the full open-access paper here: https://lnkd.in/gHTayy_4 A huge shoutout to our lead author, Lillian Thiel, for her incredible work, and to all co-authors from the Galan Moody and John Bowers research groups at UC Santa Barbara. Your dedication and collaboration made this achievement possible. We can immediately scale this technology to 8" compound-semiconductor-on-insulator wafers. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in exploring this exciting opportunity further!

The Thorlabs Mobile Photonics Lab Experience had a great week at Rutgers University–New Brunswick with the release of our 2nd generation OCT Imaging Experience! Over 100 students from Busch campus and the career fair earlier in the week checked out our Intro to Photonics Experience. Then another 23 participated in the OCT Imaging Experience, which has been developed in collaboration with Nada Boustany for her medical imaging course.    A huge thank you to Nada Boustany for help developing the content and coordinating all the logistics.    I also want to thank Celeste Carbonell and Mudit Garodia for prepping and presenting the time domain and spectral domain activities for the OCT experience. And also Jeffrey Bloomer, Noa Shaw, and Christopher Liu for helping make the event possible.    We're hitting the road for New England right now!    We'll be at Bridgewater State University with Samuel Felipe Serna Otalvaro this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the West Campus Lot by Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center.     And then we'll have two locations at the Cambridge Science Festival this weekend! We'll be at the Cambridge Public Library again this Saturday, September 28 from 9 am - 5 pm (https://lnkd.in/e9fnK-su), along with special guests from Spark Photonics Foundation and the SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics/Optica student chapter at Boston University. And then we'll be in Kendall Square for The Science Carnival Sunday, September 29th from 12 pm - 4 pm (https://lnkd.in/ewZueJFY). Looking forward to another big week with the Mobile Photonics Lab!

We're excited to showcase our latest fiber optic solutions and innovations at #ECOC2024. Visit booth #C7 to learn more about our product lines, experts are also available to answer questions and to discuss your custom needs. The PM60 Series Fiber Optic Power Meters are robust, handheld instruments that are ideal for both lab and field applications. Each unit includes a rechargeable 2300 mAh LiPo battery that has the capacity for continuous operation throughout a workday! The PM60A power meter features an internal Si sensor for measuring wavelengths from 400 nm to 1100 nm at optical powers from -65 dBm to 16 dBm. Thorlabs' MX110G series Electrical-to-Optical (E-O) converters feature an industry leading bandwidth up to 110 GHz! They include an external loop-back cable for connecting the internal laser output to the modulator input and include either a C-band or L-band laser tunable on the ITU 50 GHz grid or a fixed-wavelength laser. Thorlabs' Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSAs) perform highly accurate spectral measurements. Our Redstone® OSA302 and OSA305 OSAs measure the optical power of both narrowband and broadband sources as a function of wavelength with higher resolution and a lower noise floor. #fiber #photonics #FiberProcessing

Introducing Thorlabs’ new Laser Power Modulator! A fully integrated acousto-optic modulator solution, the FSAOM Modulator and Attenuator provides high-speed intensity modulation and beam attenuation for lasers with operating wavelengths from 1020 - 1080 nm and up to 40 W at 1 MHz. The modulator is suitable for applications requiring high-contrast and fast laser power modulation of ultrafast NIR laser pulses, such as two-photon fluorescence microscopy, photoactivation, and micromachining. The FSAOM includes all the features needed to pair it with typical high power Yb-based laser sources: mode-adapting optics, an angular dispersion compensating prism, a high-power beam dump for the zeroth order beam, and an on-board monitor photodiode.
