About us
Since its establishment in 2016, Brothers Liberating Our Communities (BLOC) has been dedicated to increasing the presence of Black Male Educators in schools. In Missouri, less than 1% of teachers are Black men, despite the increasing number of Black students. BLOC recognizes the positive impact that cultural and experiential relevance can have on student achievement and thus strives to establish a strong pipeline of Black Male Educators and programs that retain them. By doing so, BLOC aims to positively transform the education landscape in the Kansas City Metro area.

If you missed us, you missed out! The community came to celebrate and prepare the back to school season. Over 200 backpacks, student supplies, basic need items were distributed for families. Not to mention fatherhood discussion, free haircuts, and over 30 community organizations ready to serve. BLOC works to support, sustain, and retain educators in schools. The Back To School Bash is just the start of a year of great programming! Stay tuned for next months event! Keep the BLOC hot!
