Honored to have been selected to receive the Daily Points of Light award for my volunteerism with Theatre Under The Stars Education and The River. I am but a tiny part of the amazing program at TUTS - so many others give their time and efforts to create an enriching, inclusive musical theatre opportunity for kids and adults throughout the Houston area. Please check out their page at https://www.tuts.com/river to see all of the good that comes from giving everyone their chance to shine.
Our final day of the #PointsOfLight24 Conference ended on a high note, filled with more educational and enlightening workshops and our Closing Plenary. Culminating three days of inspiration, education and connection, the all-conference Closing Plenary celebrated President George H.W. Bush’s legacy of a thousand points of light and his vision for a society characterized by compassion, volunteerism and civic engagement. The event began with a vibrant performance by Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), featuring student performers with disabilities from The River alongside students from TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre. We were also inspired by stories from #DailyPointofLight Award honorees: Victoria Villarreal from the United States, Nikki Scott from the United Kingdom, and Hamza Farrukh from the Commonwealth, showcasing how their actions are transforming lives. And Sully, President George H.W. Bush's beloved guide dog, joined us, adding a special touch to the celebration. Our President & CEO, Jennifer Sirangelo and Board Chair, Neil Bush also had the honor of presenting a #DailyPointofLight Award to Dana Farrar for her incredible commitment to volunteering with TUTS. Thank you to everyone who made this conference unforgettable! We can't wait to see you next year, June 3 - 6 for #PointsofLight25 in New Orleans!
