Coaching job seekers / career changers? It’s a time when career clients can perceive threats to identity and ego. This makes it tricky to take risks, which can bring a sense of uneasiness, worry, or anxiousness. For example, clients undergoing career change may think: 🔹 What if I don’t get it exactly right? 🔹 What are the stakes if I don’t get the results I need? 🔹 What if I look awkward in front of networking contacts? 🔹 What if my peers / family aren’t impressed with me? 🔹 How long will this take? 🔬Active Experimentation🔬 There are plenty of “what if’s” and Red Zone threats 🔴 associated with change. To counter this very human reaction, invite clients into active experimentation to try on new behaviors. Consider some of these coaching questions: 🔹 How would you experiment with this new approach? 🔹 How long do you need to stay with this approach to get some solid data? 🔹 What kind of learning curve will you look for as you try out this new approach? 🔹 What will you remind yourself of when people you care about do not agree with you? The frame of “experimenting” helps keep the brain in the Blue Zone! 🔵 What what you add? How do you support #career and #jobsearch clients when trying out new/uncomfortable behaviors? ====== The Academies offers a Certified Career Management Coach program, part of its Level 1 and Level 2 ICF pathways. This program is perfect for coaches pursuing/renewing an ICF credential, as well as anyone who wants to support people in navigating challenging career change. https://hubs.ly/Q02HKY-_0 #brainfriendlycoaching #careercoach #jobsearchcoaching #change
About us
With 20 years experience as an ICF-approved coach-education/training organization, we’re passionate about translating neuroscience into easy-to-implement coaching techniques. When you marry coaching techniques with brain-body biology, you have the recipe for meaningful and lasting change! Who is drawn to our community? People who are curious about human potential, brain-based coaching, conscious evolution, emotional contagion, and more. People who want to give the work-world the gift of environments that foster trust, connection, creativity, and productivity. People who believe that psychologically safe relationships generate better ideas, retention, and profits. The coach-approach works, creating the template for thought-provoking (and sometimes uncomfortable) conversations that lead to the changes we want to see in ourselves, our teams, and our world.

Leaders influence engagement, for better or worse. This influence starts at a biological level. 🛠️ The Academies’ Red Zone | Blue Zone framework adds context to this biological influence. 🧠 The brain is the key organ that interprets whether people or situations feel threatening or safe. This has serious implications for our ability to think and relate: 🚨 Red Zone: When we feel threatened, our body’s biochemistry causes the smartest part of the brain to go offline... > strategic thinking is short-circuited and > trust is easily broken when we operate in the Red Zone. 🦋 Blue Zone: Conversely, when we feel safe, the body’s biochemistry supports whole-brain thinking and whole-hearted relating: 🔵 compassion, collaboration, creativity, adaptability, calculated risk-taking, strategic action, and resilience are behavioral markers of the Blue Zone. What helps shift YOUR BRAIN-BODY BIOLOGY from 🔴 to 🔵? #LeadershipCoachTraining #LeadershipCoaching #BrainFriendlyCoaching #NeuroNugget #Coaching #ICFtraining #RedZoneBlueZone #BlueZoneBiology #ChangingMindsForGood

Leadership is a tall task. Leaders must balance organizational priorities with the changing needs of the people who attend to those priorities. All is accomplished through… …people. When leaders create cultures where people have predominantly positive experiences, engagement grows, and with it, > creativity, > collaboration, and > achievement. But when people have predominantly negative experiences in the workplace, engagement wanes. And lack of engagement is costly. Gallup estimates that low engagement costs the global economy US $8.8 trillion. 💡Coaching Curiosities: When coaching leaders who struggle with engagement, consider listening for, asking questions about, or making observations related to these ideas… > What behaviors do you look for to know when people are engaged? > What tells you they’re dis-engaged? > What’s your ‘why’ for having an engaged team? > What gets in the way of your ability to create engagement? #LeadershipCoachTraining #LeadershipCoaching #BrainFriendlyCoaching #NeuroNugget #Coaching #ICFtraining #RedZoneBlueZone #BlueZoneBiology #ChangingMindsForGood

We may be a bit biased here, since Matthew Gardner is now a full-time team member at The Academies. After he went through coach training with us, a year or so later, the stars aligned so that we were also able to have him join the team in his Coach Success Manager role. So grateful to be a part of his world!
I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from International Coaching Federation! It has been an incredible journey over the last few years to get to this point, and I am beyond excited at being able to use this accreditation in my coaching journey! I am incredibly thankful to The Academies for Coaching, Inc. and Susan Britton MCC for their incredible support on this journey and helping me to get to this point! Looking forward to seeing what's next! :)
