A month from today we are holding an exciting webinar in partnership with SCIREQ titled 'Maximizing Drug Development Efficiency Using Predictive Models'. The webinar's expert speaker is Dr. Katharina Schwarz, an expert at the interface between aerosol/inhalation research, respiratory pharmacokinetics, toxicology/physiology, and inhalation exposure science with a special focus on particle lung dosimetry and biophysical particle-lung interactions. This exciting webinar is occurring on Tuesday October 29th from 10-11am via Zoom. To learn more and signup, visit our webpage here: https://lnkd.in/e3TYwjey

Join us TOMORROW (October 1st) to learn about the impact the 3Rs Collaborative is having to advance better science – for both people and animals. We are hosting our annual meeting where we’ll review findings from our 2023 annual report, updates from 2024 thus far, and look ahead to the future. There will be a chance to give your input and share your ideas about the collaborative. We’ll wrap up the webinar with an educational presentation about Human Behavior Change for the 3Rs, drawing on learnings from research and practice from the 3RsC. The event will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm EST on Microsoft Teams. Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eaiUdyuA

Animal research personnel are exposed to animal suffering, euthanasia, and social stigma while deeply caring for research animals. As a result, they can experience difficult emotions leading to workplace stress and compassion fatigue. The 3Rs Collaborative has created extensive materials to promote compassion fatigue resiliency for our field. This includes a resource hub for individuals and institutional support resources. We are very excited to add a new feature to our resources: a peer-to-peer support resource and manual for building a peer-to-peer support program. You can find this resource at the bottom of our institutional resources page (https://lnkd.in/eE-vrd_V).

Here at the 3Rs Collaborative, it is no secret we are a big supporter of refined mouse handling. This method, in comparison to traditional methods (like tail handling) has been shown to be beneficial to mouse welfare & improves the quality of scientific data. Tunnels are a key feature for the tunnel method of refined mouse handling, but we know that purchasing these tunnels can sometimes be a barrier for institutions and personnel. Lucky for you - the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) currently has applications open for the Implementing Refinement Grant! The application cycle closes 4 weeks from today on Friday, Oct 11 at 11:59 PT so make sure to get your applications in. You can also submit an application for the Refinement Research Award, focused more on identifying new ideas to improve the welfare of animals in experimentation. Check out the links for both awards below! Refinement Research Award: https://lnkd.in/e9-Qu83M Implementing Refinement Grant: https://lnkd.in/eFkjuGfV
