Congratulations to our BREW 2.0 company Avivid Water Technology LLC on this exciting pilot project with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)! Avivid treats heavily contaminated industrial #wastewater for reuse or release with its TurboCoag water treatment system.
We are excited to announce our pilot project with the EPA and HDR APTIM (a Joint Venture) to significantly reduce contaminants of concern in mine water effluent in Creede, Colorado! We will be running the pilot for two weeks with a goal of a 50% reduction in contaminants. Keep an eye on our social media and our website to see what we reduce and by how much! Visit avividwater.com for more information on how we treat water. #watertreatment #electrocoagulation #water #cleanwater #EPA #cleanwater #mining #miningnews

Exciting news out of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District this morning! Not only does this new facility continue Milwaukee's leadership in #WaterTechnology, it also bolsters support for Water Energy Forward (W E Forward), our proposal for a National Science Foundation (NSF) Regional Innovation Engine. W E Forward aims to develop and scale technologies and processes to help manufacturers and utilities become more resilient and sustainable. The effort, led by The Water Council and a consortium of universities, nonprofits, utilities, and industry, could bring up to $160 million in NSF funds to eastern Wisconsin over the next 10 years. The newly announced facility will allow engine partners to develop, test and scale new technologies in real-world applications. “Once again, MMSD is showing its leadership in developing wastewater technologies that will help reduce carbon emissions and preserve critical freshwater resources,” said Dean Amhaus, The Water Council president and CEO. “This facility is a huge step in the development of the Water Energy Forward engine.” Visit https://lnkd.in/eiciDSBy to learn more about W E Forward. Congratulations to Kevin Shafer and the entire MMSD team on this visionary project! #WhereWaterWorks #WorldWaterHub #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #WastewaterTreatment #Resilience MKE Tech Hub Coalition Wisconsin Technology Council Rockwell Automation University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee University of Wisconsin-Madison Marquette University Madison Region Economic Partnership Wisconsin Center for Manufacturing and Productivity (WCMP)
Today, MMSD announced plans for an unprecedented clean-water lab to test new technologies that could revolutionize wastewater treatment, leading to improvements in public health and drinking water supplies worldwide. The $13 million research lab will be located at MMSD’s Oak Creek reclamation facility, allowing water technology businesses, universities, scientists, and inventors to partner with the district to test new concepts and ideas on a large scale at a working treatment plant. Based on research and experience, industry experts believe the new concepts, installed at just one of two regional treatment plants in Milwaukee, could lead to $90 million in savings over 20 years. CORNCOB, Inc. maker of an advanced membrane water filtration system, is a graduate of our BREW 2.0 Post-Accelerator. Like many startups, it has seen its share of challenges, but owner Douglas Hwang is optimistic about its future. Corncob is currently working, appropriately enough, with a California company to clean the wastewater created as a part of the process to remove the pericarp, or outer skin, of a corn kernel. Water tech companies are invited to join the International Trade Administration for a July 23 webinar on the environmental technologies market in Indonesia. Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world, a growing economy, and is facing numerous environmental challenges which make it an emerging market for U.S. environmental technology exports. Water and wastewater treatment is the largest environmental technology sector for U.S. exports to Indonesia. This webinar will explain how U.S. environmental Technology providers can take advantage of these growing opportunities, with briefings and presentations from Indonesian government officials and industry representatives on areas of potential business collaboration for U.S. companies on waste management, recycling, water and wastewater treatment, as well as air pollution monitoring and reduction technologies. Introducing Water Energy Forward! The Water Council and our partners received a Development Award last year to develop a National Science Foundation (NSF) Regional Innovation Engine. After more than a year of intense engine development, we have a much better idea of what the engine will address and how it will solve global challenges. With that, we are proud to announce the official name and branding of our engine. This name captures our engine’s goal of helping manufacturers and utilities enhance water and energy #sustainability and #resiliency. “Forward” represents progress and opportunity but is also the motto of our home state, #Wisconsin. Finally, we call the engine W E Forward for short, pronounced as WE Forward, emphasizing the inclusivity of the project. Visit https://lnkd.in/eiciDSBy to learn more, and stay tuned for more announcements soon! We are pleased to announce that KPMG US is now WAVE Verified! This means the company has gone through the WAVE process to assess water-related risk across the enterprise, identify the highest water-related impacts using credible water-related data, and implement best practice in improving water stewardship performance. Its work was then independently verified by SCS Global Services. KPMG US is a strategic partner with The Water Council on #WaterStewardship. This verification indicates its commitment to water stewardship not just for its clients, but also within its own operations. Congratulations!
