There is no such thing as a bad emotion 🧡 Take it from Meg LeFauve (she/her), Screenwriter for Inside Out 2. We sat down with Meg earlier this month to chat about the significance of meaningful conversations around emotions, self-compassion, and mental health. Remember, humanity is wrapped in all the messy parts of life. Take it from us, these conversations are lifesaving. Calling on our Trevor Community! We are so excited to have a panel in the running for SXSW 2025: "When AI Saves Lives: Real Applications in Mental Health." The discussion will bring together several leaders at the intersection of technology and mission-driven nonprofit work (including our new incredible CEO Jaymes Black!) to explore the ways that generative AI is being used to progress mission-driven causes. We would love your support during this community voting period to increase our chances of being selected for the conference in March 2025. Voting only takes a couple minutes, and it closes this Sunday, August 18 @ 11:59 PM PT 🧡 https://lnkd.in/eWinYuUi

There is no better person than Jaymes Black (they/he/she)— and there is no more necessary moment in history than now — to move the needle toward a world where LGBTQ young people live to see adulthood. Jaymes is uniquely made for a time such as this — situated with rich lived experience and a career of service to navigate our social climate and political future with courage as our Chief Executive Officer. Jaymes knows that our work at The Trevor Project is critical, but for them, the work is personal, too. Growing up as a Black, queer young person in South Texas, Jaymes knows that having Trevor as a resource during their adolescence would’ve made a difference in their own mental health. But the trajectory of his life and career has prepared Jaymes for a time such as this — to build a sustainable and affirming future for LGBTQ youth nationwide; a future that you deserve to be alive in. With her incredible wife Cheralyn and their beautiful family by their side, Jaymes is a possibility model for queer and trans young people everywhere — and we couldn’t be more proud to have them at the helm of our work on Team Trevor 🧡 Send a warm welcome to Jaymes Black in the comments 🌈 #JaymesBlack #LGBTQ #TheTrevorProject #SuicidePrevention

Nikki. Hannah. Perris. Nico. Abby. Kaitlyn. Courtney. Josie. 🔥We’re giving all of our LGBTQ Olympic and Paralympic athletes their flowers in celebration of inclusion and representation on the Olympic and Paralympic stage. These queer and trans athletes have already achieved the highest honor in athletics — representing their country on an international level. To everyone watching the Olympics and Paralympics this month with clear eyes and full hearts, we’re alongside you championing our community. Visibility and representation are lifesaving; we know that you can’t be who you can’t see. When you can see yourself reflected in sports and in the media, it becomes easier to imagine yourself situated in the future. We’re cheering on these powerhouse athletes as they live their dreams — and we’re cheering for you as you reach for yours. Always here for you. 🧡 #Olympics #Olympics2024 #LGBTQ #Inclusion #Representation #TheTrevorProject

We’re thrilled to announce the election of our new Board Chair, Thomas Sanchez (he/him), CEO and Co-Founder of the digital agency Social Driver, acclaimed for groundbreaking work in marketing and communications. Thomas’ extensive background as a Hispanic entrepreneur and LGBTQ executive drives his deep commitment to LGBTQ young people and our work here at The Trevor Project. Prior to this role, he served as co-chair of the marketing and communications committee, co-chair of the governance committee, and chair of the executive committee nominating committee. Thomas’ leadership has been instrumental in driving our key initiatives and expanding our reach, especially during our changing political and social climate. Under his guidance, both Social Driver and The Trevor Project have achieved new heights while embracing innovation and inclusivity, ensuring a brighter future for the communities they serve. We couldn’t be more proud to have Thomas take the lead as our new Board Chair. Congratulations Thomas! 🧡 #Leadership #LGBTQ #TheTrevorProject

Friendly reminder: LGBTQ young people deserve to feel safe and respected in school 🌈 That’s why we created our guide for Creating Safe Spaces in School for LGBTQ Young People, aimed at giving allies resources to signal to LGBTQ young people that you are a safe person to turn to. While the majority of young people spend most of their waking hours in school, the education system can be a challenging place to navigate and explore identity for LGBTQ young people — especially if they experience harassment, discrimination, and lack of support & resources. Our allies provide important support for LGBTQ young people, especially in the face of increased marginalization. It’s up to teachers, administrators, and fellow students to find ways to show support, because the costs can be devastating.
